“Hyatt House now - good value suites - superb breakfast!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

Remember that they sell their non-suites double rooms (with one queen bed unfortunately only! and no kitchenette/fridge) via priceline (2,5*) and hotwire (3,5*) for a real bargain esp. on the weekends.

Honestly I don't understand why a brand like Hyatt House which is just about to build up their new brand promoting "spacious suites" and "kitchenettes" still uses the opaque websites to sell their "normal" rooms - people expect to get Hyatt House if they won Hyatt House - not Hyatt "small" house. However they offer upgrades for $20 "only" - go for it it's still a deal!!

Free Breakfast was above average (fresh fruits, chinese food, made to order ommelette etc.) to similar "breakfast included properties".

Free parking, free Wifi, free Pool, Jacuzzi made our stay fantastic - during the week Mo-Th they also have a free evening reception (cocktails, snacks).

The hotel is surrounded by Qualcomm offices, a Fresh&Easy market is not far away on the Mira Mesa Bvd (also a good outside lunch spot nearby the F&E) - calculate good 20min to downtown San Diego or Torrey Pines Glider Point beach....

Posting under Woodfin as I could not find Hyatt Place San Diego/Sorrento Mesa

We purposely picked an area north of San Diego, so that we could drive to areas both south and north of the hotel. It's about half way between San Diego and Carlsbad. The hotel is tucked in the middle of a high tech industrial park; the majority of the hotel's clientele would be young high tech professionals however there were plenty of families visiting too.

The room was spacious with full kitchen, living room with sofabed, and a king bed in a separate room.

Breakfast was very good. The omelet station was by far the best, as it was always made to order. Food was freshly made in the kitchen.

The pool is not heated and is outdoors.

We were upgraded upon arrival to the fourth floor. We had to swipe our room key in the elevator in order to gain access to that floor.

We enjoyed our stay

Location of the hotel is right in the heart of a business park, which means it is quiet with a lot of accessibility to the major freeways. Stayed here to go to a wedding in San Diego. The rooms were all recently renovated, e.g. marble kitchen counters, etc. The rooms were clean. Bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. There is also a very large desk for work. I would recommend this hotel for a business trip or a leisurely holiday. It's clean, convenient, and priced right. My only grip is that the breakfast needs improvement, but heck there is a mini kitchenette in your room - make your own breakfast or eat out. Parking is free. Tip: Get courtyard facing. You'll face the pool/landscaped area. Otherwise your facing a parking lot.

I stayed for almost a week and really enjoyed the property. The newly remodeled courtyard rooms are very nice and quiet. The kitchenette was more than adequate for basic cooking and the bed was very comfortable. Staff was friendly. The restaurant is a bit pricey but quality was excellent, and the complimentary breakfast service was great. I have no complaints whatsoever!

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are probably quieter than exterior rooms.

Great service at this hotel. Check-in was smooth, the amenities were clear and we even had some help from housekeeping as they lent us some cleaning supplies to clean up our rental car after one of my family got sick. The room, booked through Hotwire, was not a suite, but very nice and spacious. The hotel appeared very clean and the staff extremely welcoming and caring. The free breakfast was good. Different hot items everyday accompany the usual cereals, breads, fruits, yogurts, and juices. Because the hotel had recently changed names, some things still called it the Summerfield Suites, but others the Hyatt House. They are continuing to change over to the new name.

The only con I can think of would be our wake up call on our first morning came one hour early. The phone system had not been working right. We called the front desk, they said they would work on it and we could call them for a wake up call the next day instead of the automated system and they would be happy to give a call to the room. We did so, and had no problems our second and final morning.

My family would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the San Diego area that doesn't mind being about 15-20 minutes outside of town. We had no problem driving to town for our whale watching tour and the zoo.

Room Tip: If you want a full kitchen, ask for the suite. If you book through 3rd party such as Hotwire or Pric...

My family stayed at the Hyatt Summerfield Suites San Diego / Sorrento Mesa for a week in August 2011. The hotel was good and functional. Previously the Woodfin Suites, the hotel was slightly dated, but clean.

The room was quite spacious with full kitchen, living room with sofabed, and a king bed in a separate room. The room could use a bit of refresh, as the carpets were probably the most dated.

Breakfast was very good, as the menu changed "slightly" every day. Food was freshly made in the kitchen. The omelet station was by far the best, as it was always made to order. I was not able to make it back to the hotel in the afternoon to participate in the afternoon food festivities.

In terms of location, I purposely picked an area north of San Diego, so that we could drive to areas both south and north of the hotel. It's about half way between San Diego proper and Carlsbad. The hotel is tucked in the middle of a high tech industrial park - the majority of the hotel's clientele would be young high tech professionals.

The pool is not heated and is outdoors. The pool is located in the center atrium, so it's out of the sun for a good part of the day. I was expecting that in August, the pool temp was decent. However, my kids started to shiver within a short amount of time.

Hotel service was also very good.

Would certainly stay there again.
