“Pet Friendly and Outgoing Staff make for a great stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2014

It is a hard entrance way to find but there is a "In and Out Burger" a short walk down the hill away from the hotel. Needed an easy on and off the highway location to begin the college selection process with younger daughter in San Diego. This hotel is comfortable, the folks at the front desk were quite friendly and provided copious info for dining choices in its neighborhood. They spoke quite highly of the "The Broken Yolk" just down Garnet and suggested three Indian restaurants. A feature of La Quinta's', I came to learn, is pets are allowed in the hotel properties. Next time I travel with my wife and need pet friendly lodging we can bring our bevy of dogs to a La Quinta Inn. Easy, help yourself breakfast buffet had a large selection of breakfast items and was easily able to accommodate the very large group of guests who stayed in the hotel the night before. Reasonably priced, free "wifi" and computer in the lobby and it was a very good location for us.

It was a little difficult to find the entrance for this hotel because you enter in an odd way. There was ample free parking which we liked, as many hotels in San Diego charge for parking. Our check-in was simple and fast. Our room was spacious, hotel style, one room. The bed was comfortable and the furnishings and carpeting were clean. It was either a new hotel or it had been remodeled. We had one issue with out room location, it was near the vending machines and on the way to the free breakfast restaurant. The stockers of the vending machines were very loudly talking and guest on the way to the restaurant were chatty. Also we could hear the desk clerks speaking. This hotel is in a neighborhood area but near enough to the tour sites.

Room Tip: Stay away from the vending machines and breakfast restaurant if possible.

Positive: Clean rooms and good cleaning service. The pool was nice and not very crowded. The personell wasl friendly and helpful overall.
Negative: unhealthy breakfast, everything was just sugar. The wifi was very poor and when I complained they tried to deny the problem. The location is not good if you don't have a car. Beds were small and one person had to sleep in a folding bed.

Our stay was very nice. Clean rooms and hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. We even stayed an extra night and they gave us a decent rate. The kids enjoyed the pool and my husband enjoyed the treadmill. We tried to print Sea World tickets and there was a problem with my email and Neil helped us get those printed. He went above and beyond what most would do. We left an item in our room and they are making arrangements to have it shipped to us. We would definately stay again. The only complaint which most people have is the parking. One night we got back really late and it was full so we had to park on the street. Not a real big deal.

We typically stay at the La Quinta chain because we often travel with our dogs. We booked this location in advance and were disappointed upon arrival. First, it is not "centrally located." You have to drive 5-10 miles to get anywhere (zoo, beach, aquarium, shopping). The hotel appears clean, but when we got into our room, our feet were filthy from the carpet. Not ideal when traveling with a small child, or if your prefer cleanliness. The room that we stayed in was decent in size, but extremely noisy. The toilet was constantly running, the AC is very loud and the elevator shook our room. Needless to say, we did not sleep very well. The rooms are way overpriced in my opinion! The most expensive that we have ever paid for this hotel chain, and had the least amount of amenities. The staff was great, curious and helpful, breakfast was good and had variety. The pool is outside and not heated. It was stormy when we statues so that was inconvenient. Overall, we will not be returning to this location. The traffic in the area is pretty heavy, it is worth it to spend a little more and stay closer to the attraction that you are visiting.

Great staff, but I feel the hotel was overpriced for that night. Clean room, good breakfast, but air conditioning throughout hotel could use updating, would probably stay again if the price was more reasonable and an assurance that the hotel has ample security in case of emergency as there was an altercation that took place and I never saw any security arrive.
