“Great place to stay on San Diego Pacific Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

An 11-day vacation in San Diego. Great place to stay at a reasonable price. Near the beaches and city attractions. We had a rental car to move around but several good restaurants were found near Garnet Avenue at walking distance.
Room was newly renovated with high-end furnitures and appliances. Larger than normal bathroom with huge ceramic and glass shower was appreciated.

Room Tip: Best rooms are on the second floor adjacent to the lobby. Room 17, 19, 21 and 23.

Actually, the first two buildings, up and down, and across downstairs were all just recently renovated and upgraded. Our only suite, #14, has an incredible bathroom, and can not be compared to any other bathroom we have on the property. Thank you very much for staying with us!

Awesome hotel for families that love the beach and So Cal beach life. Yards from the beach and boardwalk. Lot's of great local restaruants - Kona's Surf Club, Taco Surf, etc. No worries about storing your wetsuits, surf boards/boggie boards in the room.

It's very nice to hear that you know about the local attractions, making your stay with us that much better. And, you are right, the beach is right here, not more than a few seconds away from the edge of our property. Thank you, we hope you'll return with family again very soon!

My family and I have stayed at this hotel three times now. Each time we are quite pleased. It is an exceptional value given how close it is to the beach and other San Diego amenities. The front desk staff is top notch, friendly, courteous and helpful. Special commendation to Jim Silver (GM), Alpha, Daniel and Oscar.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a renovated room. There are about ~50 rooms there, but only a handful have the n...

We stayed here for 3 nights. The original plan was for Seaworld trip for 2 nights. We loved Pacific beach so much stayed do another night. Our room was on the ground floor. Great room and newly decorated, wife was happy.

Breakfast was fine but expected pastries and not much else provided per previous reviews.

Location is excellent nd although you can't see the beach from our room you are so close it's a 30 second walk to the beach.

Food around hotels was good and we found theThai restaurant a few blocks up on left was great.

If you fancy a long stroll for 2 miles long the beach you will find a pub on the front called Wave I believe and we had great fun on the wave machine for the kids. 1st hr costs $30 and $20 there after.

Yes, the Wave House! We send a lot of guests over there. As you said, we are very close to the beach, but with quite a few of the rooms blocked from the ocean by the building to the west. However, we do offer partial ocean views if you call us directly for reservations. Thank you for your comments!

Stayed here last week for 5 nights in 2 rooms, rooms were new, clean and very comfortable. Location is super close to the beach. However, one of our rooms had NO air. The room stayed a consistent 80 degrees the ENTIRE time. Spoke with the office many times to have it fixed and no one came. Tried to speak to someone about it the last two days of the trip, in terms of just lodging a complaint and looking to speak to someone about why this was never fixed and kept being told to wait for the next person on shift and they could help me. Have put in calls and have not heard anything back. Overall great place to stay but management needs some help.

Unfortunately, the a/c in your room was just replaced and still did not work. I did have maintenance try to make the new a/c work, but we still could not get it to work. We are definitely sorry for the heat, and do hope that the rest of your stay with us was pleasant. Again, we do apologize for the problem, and hope you will try us again.

Room was clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful - got us early check in on a Saturday in a room meeting our request. Staff brought extra pillows when requested. By far the place for the money in Pacific Beach.

I booked this hotel via Expedia for room with 2 queen size beds. However, when I arrived at this hotel, I got a room with 1 king size bed. I showed Expedia reservation document, staff on duty said all rooms were sold out so he could not change my room. He offers to place a roll-out bed so I couldn't but to accept it because it was already after 9 pm. But, he did not show up for an hour so I went to the check-in office to find out that there was no roll-out bed available. He said this happened before and he thought someone in the staff must have made mistake in processing information from Expedia. My family(4 people) had to sleep in 1 king size bed that night. The more weird thing happened next day. Since I booked for 2 days they had to change the room. But the staffs did not share the incident properly so I had to tell the same story twice for next 2 shift staffs. And I didn't see they felt sorry about their mistake.

Room Tip: Sleep in franchise hotel. At least they feel responsibility for their mistake.

This will not happen again after this year, because we are making every room minus seven with two queen beds. We are truly sorry for the mistake, and do hope your room change was easy and that you were happy with that room. Please know you are always welcome to contact me directly if I can assist you in the future with any reservation with of course a discount.
