It certainly helps this hotel by being situated in such an idyllic location. Beautiful, and a lovely hotel. Looks good, grounds are very well kept, people give good professional service and are approachable. The rooms are big enough, with two good sized and very comfortable beds. Lots of storage space, and a good sized fridge. I had issue with public pathways going right by the window wall to our room though, which meant we kept the curtains closed much of the time. There are tennis courts kept in very good condition (the hotel has equipment and a coach available), and the swimming pool is big enough to get a decent swim. The Jacuzzi, one of the biggest I have experienced, was very, very warm.
The only food we had at the hotel was breakfast. As usual in the U.S, portion size was large and provided a good fuel boost to start the day. Watch out for rogue seagulls. One spent a few minutes appraising whether it could swipe the salmon off one of our plates, chose it's moment and made a successful swoop........so that particular seagull also had a boost to its day!
And the location. Mission Bay. A minutes' walk to a harbourside beach with hotel loungers, we easily secured a double sunbed. I guess most people walked the 15 minutes to the ocean-side beach. The area is great for promenading, sea and harbour sides, with Mission Boulevard for eats, music, entertainment running down the middle. Use the San Diego Old Trolley tour, leaves from right outside the hotel, to get a feel for the city.
