“Nice option for downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

We booked this because of the location. It turned out to be convenient, but we didn't really care for the gaslamp district (too much of a frat party vibe), but the hotel was not so close to that area to be annoying. As others have noted, you do hear drunk people yelling on the street late at night.

Otherwise, the room was clean and spacious (we had a superior king room on the corner). The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was easy to walk to places, and also easy to get on the highway for driving up to La Jolla or other spots.

It was a good value, and if you want to stay downtown, it seems like a great choice.

My boyfriend and I stayed just one night at The Bristol Hotel. It's walking distance to the convention center (not right across the street, but, it's definitely doable!), close to shopping and a variety of restaurants. Note that parking is $26 per day, but it's valet, and you may come and go as you please.

We love this place whenever we go to San Diego because of its great location and staff. Last time we especially enjoyed the tasty happy hour appetizers at the hotel bar -- small, intimate atmosphere. The hotel lobby always has fresh, colorful gerbera daisies floating in large glass bowls for a nice touch of color!

Great location, pleasant and helpful staff, immaculate rooms and, most unusual at any hotel, the windows actually open so there is FRESH AIR. Along with the firm mattresses, this makes sleeping there, without the airlessness of most hotels, wonderful. They take environment concerns very seriously. A pleasure to stay there, particularly for meetings at the convention center.

Green Features: The staff take this seriously, it's much appreciated

Dear Rosie,
Thank you for a wonderful review and for acknowledging our unique windows that actually open and allow fresh air! As you mentioned, we do take the environment very seriously, as well as guest comfort. All of our guestrooms have just received new mattresses and we offer eco-friendly spa products as part of our amenity package. Our Housekeeping and Laundry Departments also use eco-cleaning products and practices. Thank you for mentioning our great location, walking distance to the Convention Center and to the Gaslamp Quarter, where you can unwind after a day of busy meetings. We are the perfect downtown location for business and pleasure.

On behalf of the Bristol Team, thank you for selecting the Bristol Hotel.

I am going to the Rock and Roll Marathon so with time I called the Hotel to ask for a service that day in the mornning and the person who is the "manager" KAlvarez told me that the Hotel can not give me any service regarding that day either a transportation from the hotel or a taxi because the streets are closed and she does not want to be responsible for us.
I feel very very sorry but is not her job to support one customer needs? even if the customer is asking to approach them to the event or so?
I really want to cancel the reservation and go to some place else where the people is nice and educated.

Dear Alebri,
Thank you for passing along your comments concerning your conversation with our Front Office Manager. The Rock and Roll Marathon is one of our city’s largest events and many of the streets are blocked off along the race route, which prevents automobile traffic from getting near the starting area and the perimeter streets. In previous years, taxis have had a difficult time getting close to the starting line because of the thousands of participants, tents, booths, security, etc. I’m sure that our manager was trying to explain that it may be difficult to arrange for a taxi to meet your exact needs and she did not want you to be disappointed.

We would certainly like to assist you and if you would be so kind as to contact me directly at 619.232.6141, I will be happy to look into arranging transportation for you.

Yours truly,

I got the reservation through Hotel Tonight. great price, great location 1 block from Gaslamp District. They give you ear plugs, but I did not need them. The bed was AMAZING, soo good. They also gave drink coupons for the restaurant (I did not eat there, butthe food looked excellent).

Location - near city center but in a side street. Easy walk to harbor and restaurants and bars.
Parking - own parking but very expensive. Note that you can park free in the same street after 1900 till 8 am.
Staff - very friendly and helpful - very goon knowledge where to go and what to do.
The room was amazing. Great Art Deco design, comfortable mattresses and huge king bed. Coffee maker in room - it was really a great stay.
But walls are too thin and pray for good neighbors - pure luck.
Enjoy your self.
