“Pretty good hotel with excellent food at onside restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We stayed here for 1 night when my husband had to go to San Diego for an early morning appointments. We booked the twin bed room because it was cheaper than the king bed room. The hotel looked like they just had a renovation so pretty much everything was new. I love the black and white decor. Since the room that we got was street view, it gets very noisy at night and it wasn't even a weekend night. You can practically hear every sound from the street. If if ever go back, will definitely opt for a room far away from the street.

We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs and if you mention that you are a staying guest, some of the entree items are 50% off! We had deep fried green bean (not our favourite), pita bread with hummus that was served pizza style (really good!), seabass and seafood soup (pretty good) and pulled beef sandwich (pretty good). I would definitely recommend the restaurant even if you are not staying at the hotel. But if you want to eat out, for cheap, there's subway and the likes just around the block. HRC restaurant is about 2-3 blocks away.

Room Tip: Avoid street view rooms because it gets noisy at night.

Our board of directors held its retreat at the Bristol Hotel. We had an excellent experience. The rooms were well furnished with a very contemporary touch. The staff was professional and helpful. The lobby and reception areas were bright and well designed for this boutique hotel. Although only valet parking was available, there is a 50% discount for hybrid autos. For our group meals, the service and food was comparable to a fine restaurant. Convenient location, only a few blocks away from Horton Plaza and the Gas Lamp district.

We spent about a week at The Bristol and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

First of all, it's great central location in San Diego can't be beat! You can easily walk to the highlights of downtown, including the Gaslight District, Petco Park, and Horton Plaza. And you are minutes in driving distance from the beach, Little Italy, and Old Town.

Rooms and bathrooms are very clean! Comfortable beds and perfect air conditioning made our room a welcomed retreat at the end of each day!

All staff were very professional and accomodating from the front desk to housekeeping to the parking staff. We were greeting daily and made to feel quite at home.

We highly recommend staying here!

My husband and I recently spent 6 days at the Bristol San Diego. I have never had such a wonderful experience. The room was very comfortable, hotel staff were extremely helpful and courteous, and the wait staff in the First Avenue Restaurant were exceptional!! We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and the food was comparable to the restaurants in the Gaslamp District but the prices were much lower. Will definately be going back!!

This hotel has the best customer serivce I have received in a while. I also appreaciated thier green efforts - from low-flow flush otpions on the toilets to non-toxic soaps & snacks. The bar is convenient, staff was helpful & friendly & room was cute & clean. A much more personal experience than most of hte big hotels at a better price!

We stayed here for three nights and had a great experience! The rooms are very spacious and clean. The staff was always very helpful (e.g. told us about their zoo deals, drink vouchers for their restaurant) and friendly. Overall a great price, especially for the location--two blocks away from Gaslamp District restaurants, bars, and shops.
