I almost always stay here when I travel for business in downtown San Diego. It's my first choice. It's a clean, comfortable hotel with a very friendly vibe. That it's a former bank and the fitness center is down where the vault is located makes it kind of fun. The rooms are well appointed, beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean and equipped with a coffee maker and flat screen TV. While there are lots of restaurants in the nearby Gas Lamp a District the food at the hotel is very good god those nights when you just don't want to go out.

We loved this hotel the history of being previously a Bank was great. We had Nicholas (bellman) give us a tour of the vault as well as the tower and President Suite that was the highlight of our stay. This hotel is centrally located and we will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located in a repurposed bank building listed on the National Historic Register. The lobby is fantastic and showcases the history of the building well. The staff, from the valet to the front desk, the lobby bar to the room service attendant, were excellent, seemed to be genuinely interested in ensuring a great stay. The rooms are are a nice size with modern bathroom and nice sized windows. There is almost no noise from adjoining rooms or hallways, or from outside, surprising considering its downtown location. It is about a 10 minute walk to the Embarcadero, where there are plenty of sights to see, and plenty of routes for a good morning run. A great hotel, and quite reasonably priced compared to the waterfront locations.

The bartender named Josh is the man!!! He knows all the spots to visit in the San Diego area. He's a walking encyclopedia of the views and restaurants. Especially the beers and cigars. An amazing guy who deserves a raise and a bar of his own! See him.

Excellent location just in heart of the city. Historic hotel renovated from an old bank. Very nice and helpful staff. They only have valet parking for $ 30 /day but it does worth it because your car is always ready when you need and you don't have to spend time for parking. I have used this service a few times daily and enjoyed very well.

Within a few walk you will be on a gaslamp. You can enjoy all restaurants and cafe's around. The best night club in town Parq is just across the street !

Room Tip: have a room on a higher floors which are looking outside street

When I think of the courtyard brand I think of lower quality, lower service, but value. In this particular hotel you get all three, great value, beautiful hotel and service is quite good. I can speak about the lobby, but all I will say is its beautiful. The lobby has a bar and a section to play pool. If your going to gaslamp or downtown, stay here it's definitely worth it.
