I was in San Diego for two days on business. I must say that I had a nice stay at this hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is very unique. It used to be a bank and was built about 100 years ago. The decor of the hotel is modern but keeps the turn of the century touches with some of the original work and architecture. I found it charming. The rooms are large and with all the necessary modern needs. WiFi works well. I did not sample the food or other amenities. Beware that only valet parking is available, and it is expensive. The only thing I was confused about is that this hotel does not have the full amenties a normal hotel would, but at the same time had more amenities than what a typical Courtyard Marriott would have. Therefore, it is difficulty for me which category to put this hotel in.

Regardless, I had a nice time at this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel is located in the former San Diego Trust & Savings Bank. The lobby is truly amazing. The room was awkward in bathroom to bedroom equity but I understand that virtually every room is different as the rooms were offices in their past life! Apparently sometimes you can get a room where the bathroom is as big as or bigger than the bedroom. We weren’t so lucky but that didn’t spoil a thing.

What made this hotel stay extraordinary was the bond my wife and I made with bartender Vance. Not that his colleagues weren’t up to the task but Vance’s infectious laugh and impeccable service were simply great. He offered several ideas on things-to-do around town and spent time circling areas on one the hotels maps. He makes a fantastic margarita on top of it. We look forward to seeing Vance and his coworkers next time we are in town.

Nice work by all and thanks for making our stay feel special.

Our experience with this hotel has been outstanding. When we found this hotel online, we selected mainly based on price and location - with this looking the best value in the area for what we were looking for, including interconnecting rooms for our family.

Everything about this hotel has impressed us from the warm greeting at the kerbside valet (Danny), the reception and check in experience (Sean and Megan) and the quality, size and cleanliness of the rooms. This hotel occupies a beautifully renovated old bank building that retains all the grandeur with a modern feel in the rooms.

A special mention must go to the housekeeping staff. The attention to detail everyday was exception - including special touches like leaving our kids teddies in 'active' positions like watching TV holding the remote each day! Thank you to our housekeeper (Guadalupe Camarena) for the loving family service.

Location is great. Walking distance to good shopping and dining options.

This was meant to be the second last stop on our US holiday, but we loved it so much we extended our stay to the end of our trip. The best hotel experience we have hoped for and really started to feel like home (even the kids started asking "when are we were going 'home'" when we were out.

This hotel surpassed my expectations. I’ve stayed in a few Marriott Courtyards and can say the experience here from check-in to check-out was unblemished. The renovated 1920s bank building is simply stunning with an impressive amount of attention to detail and authenticity. We stayed 8 days recently and could not have been treated better. The one time we opted for room service, it was quick, hot, and delicious. There’s a Starbuck’s in the lobby for the coffee hounds who want more than offered by the in-room coffee pot. The front desk allowed early check-in and made our room available immediately, even though we arrived around noon. Housekeeping was extremely responsive to our requests. The beds and bedding made you want to go online and order their sheets to be shipped home (is that possible?), and the bathroom was clean with good water pressure and steady temperature.

I didn’t use the valet service, which was extraordinarily high as noted by other reviewers. Instead we walked or took cabs everywhere we wanted to go, finding the taxi service in San Diego to be convenient and reasonably priced. Even with multiple cab rides per day, our transportation cost didn’t come close to the valet overnight parking cost.

The neighborhood is, well, the Gaslamp District. It’s noisy and raucous at night with lots of street people, lots of partiers. Keep your wits about you and you’ll be just fine. We didn’t hear any street noise in our room on the 5th floor, so maybe a higher floor is key. The lobby is so huge and the old bank doors are so heavy and securely monitored, that you feel isolated from the hubbub of the streets. It’s so nice to come back to the hotel from wherever you’ve been wandering to pleasant greetings from everyone who sees you, “Welcome back.” It was definitely a pleasurable stay.

Calere, Thank you so much for such positive feedback. I am very happy to hear you enjoyed your 8 night stay with us and received our exceptional service. We do have a great staff and try to accommodate all of our guest’s needs. The Gaslamp District does normally draw out a lot of night-life, but I am glad you were able to enjoy everything else it has to offer. Although we are located in downtown, we do our best to make every guest feel comfortable and at ease in our lobby, away from all the noise.

Just spent a wonderful weekend in San Diego at this hotel and can't wait for a chance to go back. Located within the Gaslamp District and just a few blocks from Petco Park. The staff was friendly and accomodating (the one annoyance was a bartender who called all women "sweatheart"). It is well worth your time to walk around the hotel and look at the touches especially the meeting room located in the safe deposit box room. Guest room was clean and very comfortable. The granite and tile throughout the hotel were brightly polished. The location is ideal.
