“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013 via mobile

What can you say about this place other then..... It's great! Don't think you are going to walk out spending $20. It's spendy but very very good. Flavors of the food and wine selection to notch. Staff is on point!

“Good French Food Tucked Away in a Nice San Diego Neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Bleu Boheme is in the Kensington neighborhood. We enjoyed outdoor seating on a quiet Sunday night. The server was charming and efficient and the food was very good. The onion soup was rich in cheese and onions and the mussels in cream garlic sauce was superb. I just wish they served the crusty bread In traditional white instead of whole wheat, as sopping up the broth would have tasted better. The Beef Bourgiugnon was well flavored and tender while the vegetables retained some of their crispness. The two-filet dish was perfectly executed with the beef cooked as filet mignon should be--neither under of overdone. Nice chocolate mousse to top it off. Great selection of beers.

“French oasis!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

My friend and I were searching for lunch on an extremely hot day, and she really wanted moules frites. We knew Bleu Boheme would have 'em...and did they ever! Made six different ways. Fantastic basil martini. The ambiance is great, a lovely place to relax and enjoy the incredible food, drinks and surroundings. We will definitely be back for more! After all, they make moules frites six different ways!

“Say Chèvre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

An LA Times writer says that we shouldn't order just plain old goat cheese. In fact, she says we should "say chèvre." That's pronounced "shev hruh."

That's exactly what I did at Bleu Boheme, a cozy little French restaurant in the Kensington area of San Diego. The salad is called Salade de Chèvre Chaud and is a beautiful bowl of mixed greens with goat cheese, grapes, shaved pear and mustard vinaigrette. This fabulous salad of very fresh ingredients was only $14.50 in the generously sized lunch portion. An extra delight was the freshly baked bread.

The restaurant was quite noisy at about 1 pm, but by 2:30 the place was almost empty on a Sunday afternoon. My friend and I went elsewhere for coffee and dessert. The Bleu Boheme closes between 3 and 5 pm, then reopens for dinner.

Parking is available on the street.

“One of our favorite restaurants.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Had a really great lunch here on 12/31/11. Nice beer and wine list, with my only knock being Strauss Tower 10 as the only beer on tap... And with such a nice bottle list I was disappointed that the only beer on tap was so different than most of the list.

On to lunch, where I had a very good Saumon Fume sandwich with a side salad, and my wife had a pretty savory mushroom crepe.
-------------------------------
2nd visit just as good as the first... if not better.

We had a couple smaller plates to split. Typically we steer away from Calamari, since various restaurants seem to have very similar takes on the dish. For some reason we ended up going for it and we're glad we did. It's not that it was considerably different on the most basic level, but the amount of polish made it outstanding. What stands out the most is the addition of the capers... made the dish, and not something you see everywhere. We also had a small order of Moules and Frites, also pretty outstanding.

After our small plates we decided on a Nutella Crepe. Maybe it's been too long since we've been to Paris, but this was like travelling back... to that first crepe under the Eiffel. Sounds a little over the top, but that's exactly where I was after that first bite.

The service was wonderful and I withdraw my comment about Strauss Tower 10 from the first visit. Although I have no idea what was on tap this time around, I no longer care. This is a great restaurant and we'll be back.
