“Great value and great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

I was pleased with a recent visit to San Diego and my stay and Country Inn. The staff and Front Desk were very cordial, professional and helpful. The hotel and the room were very clean and modern, and the grounds were safe and well kept.

The complimentary breakfast was excellent, and there was always freshly brewed coffee in the lobby.

Check in and check out was quick and easy. I had to make some last minute changes to my reservation, which were easily and graciously accomodated.

The location is close to I-5, i-805, and I-15 freeways, but far enough away so that you do not get freeway noise. There are plenty of restaurants and stores within a five minute drive. There is a Chili's restaurant right in front of the hotel, but we did not dine there.

Downtown San Diego, the Zoo, Airport, Safari Park, and other tourist attractions are within a 20 minute drive.

One minor complaint is that the walls are thin, and I could here the guest in the next room snoring. Admittedly, I don't know if the walls were that thin, or if the neighbor had a tremendously loud snore.

We stayed in the King Suite, which included a separate living room and a sofa bed that my two daughters slept. That part was great. However, the room description mentioned a kitchenette, which was a bit misleading. The kitchenette consisted of a small refrigerator, very small microwave oven, and a coffee maker. So, don't count on preparing any meals and eating in your room. There is no dining table, plates, glasses or silverware.

We were very please with this location. It was clean inside and out. The carpet in the entire building is in the process of being replaced. We stayed here because of the reviews. We went to San Diego Zoo and Sea World. It was about a 15-20 minute drive to both. Which after staying and reading reviews of other places closer we would do the driving again. It is very easy to get to both (using a GPS). The staff was very nice. We didn't have a single issue. We were to breakfast early our second day. We asked if we could get some muffins to go because of our early flight and they brought them out to us promptly. They even brought out the juice early. This is what we all had the day before. Great service! There is a Chili's w/in walking distance. Literally across the parking lot. Our family will definitely be staying here our next trip to San Diego!

I highly recommend this hotel for any stay in San Diego (with a rental car) All the Good reviews are spot-on. The hotel in located in a large corporate park which translates into a very safe, quiet, clean and scenic area. Everything within 3 miles is well landscaped, and an obvious "nice area of town". I have stayed at several highly rated hotels on Tripadvisor in different cities that were a "good value for the money". That turned out to be a low-end hotel in a not-nice area but clean with a great staff. This place in a high mid-grade hotel in an excellent area with great amenities and staff - complete win-win.
Highlights:
- Excellent location (oddly enough rush hour traffic goes opposite to what you'd think...the traffic is from downtown going north mornings and into downtown in the evenings, so for anyone heading downtown for attractions, it's a smooth ride.
- Excellent mall and restaurants within 5 miles
- Beautiful area of San Diego
- Excellent large breakfast buffet
- Great parking
- Great staff

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend, with our daughter and her family in a room nearby. The rooms were spacious, clean, with comfortable beds. We loved that the air conditioning/heating vents were in the wall, not under a window where frigid air blows across the beds at night. The breakfast buffet was amazing, with lots of choices. Our daughter and family enjoyed the pool/spa and used it frequently. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, the rooms were quiet and well insulated. Excellent value for the money. One other plus: Very helpful cancellation policy--only 24 hrs., vs. 72 hrs. at many other hotels!

We wanted a hotel close to everything in San Diego and found it at this hotel. This hotel wasn't built yesterday, but it looked extremely well taken care of. The rooms were clean, bedding was very comfortable, and even a nice sized flat screen TV and free Internet access. Their staff was exceptional and very pleasant. I had a small issue with the room and they were right on top of correcting it. The breakfast is a nice serve yourself with a variety for everyone. I would use this hotel again for business or pleasure. It has everything I need.
