I believe that you usually get what you pay for. The Vagabond is a good deal however, and worth a bit more than the daily hotel rate.

The property is clean and well situated. While it is a typical motor inn, it has some nice accents like beautiful flowers. The two swimming pools are warm enough, clean, not over chlorinated and great for kids and adults. As is typical for hotels in this price range, the pool and hot tub get used a lot.

The rooms are nice. We had two queen beds and they were actually very comfortable. Our room had a fridge, microwave, tv and powerful air conditioner. The rooms and the property were quiet enough. The room did have an odd smell, but it didn't bother us.

The breakfast includes cereal, coffee, OJ, apples and oranges and waffles. The idea is to come to the lobby and get your food, then take it with you to your room or sit by the pool and eat.

You can easily walk to a local diner (good food), mini-mart, gas station. Highway 8 is very close.

The hotel needs to have more towels for a San Diego visitor. There are no towels poolside and it's next to impossible to get towels to take to the beach. Hotel desk staff was very pleasant and professional.

This hotel is a good deal.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Vagabond Inn in San Diego. The room had just been freshly renovated - new carpet, beds, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, bedding, etc. Everything looked warm and inviting. We were traveling with two dogs which usually presents a problem. Not here though. Our dogs were welcome and, I might add, at no extra charge. There is a nice dog walking area behind the motel. There are also two swimming pools and a spa on the property. The room rate was very reasonable, considering comparable accommodations in the same area.

This location is central to most of the San Diego attractions including the dog beach at Mission Beach. We had a great time and thank the friendly motel staff for making our short stay a pleasant one.

We had 15 women stay at the Vagabond while we attended a conference at the Cox Arena. EVERYONE loved their rooms! It was just remodeled with microwave, refridgerator, complimentary breakfast - and the staff was very helpful and friendly!!!
It was a great deal for the price!

The staff was pleasant; they allowed my folks (handicapped) to stay on the bottom floor where the room opens on to the pool deck. The rooms were as clean, the service was friendly. Swam with kids in the pool.

Rates very competetive; close to good food and sports facilities, entertainment facilities.
