A one night stay at the beginning of a week long business trip, we were looking for a central location and a hotel with a reputation for competence rather than flamboyance. The USG delivered big time. Attractive from the front, unassuming from the back but very well appointed throughout inside, the hotel feels solid and high quality. The guest rooms are, in their way, some of the nicest I've seen across American 4 and entry level 5 star accommodations. They are understated, elegant but altogether nicer than one might expect for what I felt was a very reasonable price tag.
Food options are limited with essentially only 2 dining rooms. Both dinner and breakfast were, however, of good quality, well served and not silly expensive. Breakfast - as so often in this class of US hotel - was a real highlight - and I would recommend any of the egg-based options.
Finally, I inadvertently gave the hotel staff an opportunity to really shine, having departed for LA without an important folio. One call to the front desk and this was despatched, FOC, to me in LA where it arrived less than 24 hours later. Nice work USG team!
