“Heart of the downtown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

We had great time staying at this hotel. It is in the centre of San Diego downtown. Walking distance from Marina, Westfield mall, clubs, petco park, Convention centre and retaurants. It is also close to convention centre train station. We took a rental car from San Diego airport and were able to find open parking slots next to the hotel. Parking is free on Sunday's, whereas parking at Hotel will cost you $30 valet (in & out multiple time). 4th street and 5th street are very happening places at night and you will find plenty of good restaurants all over with various cuisines. The Hotel has an antique look, with a bar below. Checkin process was very simple and easy. However, they do hold onto $50 deposit for any incidental expenses, even after providing them Credit card. In short a perfect place if you want to enjoy the San Diego downtown and the marina.

Lovely historic old hotel that is just super comfortable. The staff is awesome, the rooms are clean and the old fashioned feel in the hotel is perfect for history buffs wanting an experience of the past. I will stay at this hotel many times over. With it's location walking distance to the gaslamp district, I find it well worth the money.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the center connection of the two hotels are quieter.

Stayed one night for a holiday party in downtown. Hotel is in a great location in downtown, a few blocks to convention center and gas lamp dining and bars. Front desk was friendly and check-in was a breeze, I event checked in a few hours early. Room was comfortable and quiet and had a fireplace which was a nice touch. Hotel may be older was bathroom was updated and clean. Would stay again.

This is a great gem found in the Gaslamp district so walking distance to many attractions and close driving distance to the Zoo and Old a Town. Staff are very friendly and the hotel has historic value. The rooms are small but have a balcony looking over the courtyard and have a fireplace. They could use some updating but attractive and clean. You do have to valet park for $30 daily but you can get your car as many times as you need quickly. We would definitely return. Beautiful bar and breakfast area recently restored to its historic look. Charming.

Room Tip: I booked a deal through Orbitz which was great. Off season is probably a good time. It was not very...

Stayed 3 night there, on check-in, I asked for a quite room, they gave me one on the ground floor, promised it would be quite. Well, it was not.

The window isn't double glazed, when certain car drove pass the window vibrated quite violently. Ear plugs are essential.

The room itself is old world charm, clean, smallish, no safe box, no dressing gown nor slippers. A small iron board and iron are provided. No mini bar, small coffee machine in the room.

Location is excellent, heart of the gaslamp district, a few minutes walking from marina.Tram stops are near by.

Front desk staff are helpful and pleasant.

beautifully restored and maintained hotel close to some great places in the Gaslamp area. Its proximity to the clubbing scene is, however a great minus as your room will beat to the bass and when the clubs empty onto the street at 130 the street noise, cars and motorcycles seem as if they're in the next room.

This is a beautiful, boutique hotel in the heart of the gaslamp district in San Diego.

The hotel itself is amazingly well done with beautiful wood trim and staircases.

The breakfast served at the hotel is verygood.

The value is great for the area.

The major drawback is the noise on Friday and Saturday night coming from the streets. I was kept awake until around 2:30 AM on the weekend nights from all the noisy partiers on the street.
Better soundproofing would be a valuable addition to this hotel.
