“Worse with time.”

This is the second time in two years that I stayed at this hotel and it's gotten worse over time -- and the first visit was none too swift, either.

The bathroom had soap scum in the shower (i.e., on the shower control handle), as well as other signs of not being cleaned properly. I called the front desk and said they'd get housekeeping on it.

I returned later and went to take a shower and when I turned the nob all the way on, to "hot," there was a LOAD of caked-on soap scum/dried shampoo! Totally gross and not worth the price.

Room Tip: Pick a different hotel!

The hotel location is not bad - reasonable walking distance to Gaslamp area, dining etc. Room was excellent - very spacious, updated and clean. The breakfast in dining room and staff were excellent; HOWEVER the overall look and feel of dining and lounge area is very outdated - needs refurbishing. We paid for upgrade to Club Level and access to lounge - very disappointing and not worth the extra expense. Club lounge needs huge improvements - location, size, amenities and overall ambiance. Also parking was expensive with only a $5 span between Valet and self-park. Self-parking should be a more reasonable amount.

We have stayed in this hotel before and had good experiences. This time we were disappointed because our room was not clean. It seemed like the carpet had not been vacuumed,there were stains on the wall (possibly from a coffee spill that was never cleaned), and the room had a general look of having seen better days. We understand that the hotel is undergoing a room renovation project and I would say that it is much needed. However, room renovation doesn't preclude a hotel from having clean guest rooms.

During a recent trip to San Diego we stayed at the Westin, unfortunately they were booked the last night we wanted to stay there so we ended up at the Sheraton Suites. Upon hearing Suites I expected a nice room. Our room was small and VERY dated. There was a mini refrigerator in the room and there was a sign on it that stated it was only a cooler and not to be used to store food or medicine. I felt inside and it felt warm. There was odd stains on the chair at the desk. The bed and bathroom were clean but as I mentioned, dated. Even the furniture was old.

I was also annoyed at how expensive parking was, we could self park for $25 a night or valet for $34. Self parking should not be that expensive.

I would also like to mention that our rate came with breakfast in the morning. It was at the hotel restaurant and it was really good. Lots of options.

Room Tip: i would suggest asking if they have newly renovated rooms available.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We regret to discover that your stay was not everything it should have been. While we do not provide refrigerators in our suites, one can be placed in your room for a small fee. Although there is a charge for parking, our rates are comparable to our area. We apologize about the furniture in the room; had we been made aware, we would have been more than happy to replace the chair or do what we could to make things right. It is our hope that we’ll have an opportunity to provide you a well improved stay in the future.

I would not recommend staying here unless you are forced to and don't have another choice. The 4 points sheraton downtown san diego is a much deal with more modern rooms.

Depressing out of date decor throughout- lobby, hallways and rooms, furniture..all of it.. What's annoying is the all around apathy towards providing a competitive and modern Sheraton experience and in the downtown of a major metropolitan area.

Old style tube TVs in the bedrooms and flatscreens crammed into old furniture and awkwardly placed in the living area.

The room service menu is annoyingly limited...the only starters offered are a soup.

Seriously both Four points properties in the San Diego area are more inviting as are the other regular Sheratons (Marina & La Jolla)

We enjoyed our 3 night stay in the spacious suite. Other reviews are accurate in terms of friendly staff and opportunity for some updating but for the price and perks we got (free parking and complimentary buffet breakfast) it was worth the value. My lone complaint is the charges for usage on internet and phones. Yes its common but travelling throughout the world and at Starwood establishments these things are generally included (I expect) so I was disappointed with the fees associated with these basic services.

The Good:
Solid location in downtown SD near Gaslamp and freeways
Friendly staff
Inside pool and spa were nice feature
Suite style rooms were nice and size was pretty good

The Ok:
Had a restaurant and bar on site but didn't see anyone in there during our 2 night stay
Required 2 sets of elevators to get to rooms
Although room was decent size and set up, the hotel just has not been renovated in quite a while. Nothing bad, but just a bit worn and tired

The Not So Good:
Parking at the hotel very expensive per day, and thus we ended up saving quite a bit of $ parking in lots across the street overnight since we were out most of the day

Based on the pricing of the hotel, it's a solid deal given its downtown location and the suite style/size rooms. I would consider staying here if I want to be near downton financial or Gaslamp district. However, if I was on vacation or the like, I probably would choose a different hotel. Stayed at much better Sheratons before, as this was slightly below average but had some redeeming values.
