“Great place to stay - get the jacuzzi suite if it's just the two of you.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

Stayed here October 11th -13th 2013. Fantastic place, we had the jacuzzi suite, this room is fantastic for a couple! King bed, jacuzzi tub, fireplace, garden type shower and a huge open floor plan for a room.

The room was very clean, towels were soft, sheets were crisp. There was very little noise from outside! Heard the train horns a couple of times early on in the night but it was a distant muffled sound.

The price for the room was very good for the area, we priced up about ten different places and compared lots of the extra's. The Old Town Inn seemed to be so much above the rest of the hotels in this area.

The only thing that I could say and it's not even negative, back into your parking spot, they are tight and it's a small lot.

The hotel is clean, pool is nice and the staff is fantastic. Everything that you could want, this is our new place to stay everytime we go down to San Diego.

Room Tip: Jacuzzi suite if your a couple, it's quiet, secluded and can be romantic.

Dear Ed,

I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our Jacuzzi suite. It looks like you didn’t have a chance to stay with us for very long, but I imagine even a short stay in our Jacuzzi suite doubles your relaxation time. I agree with you completely, that if you price other hotels in our area, value conscious customers usually find that our hotel offers more value for your money, especially if you’re traveling during a busy season. We are a short 7 minute walk into Old Town, and that short walk will typically save our guests anywhere between 20 to 80 dollars a night, and sometimes more, and that's just the difference in our room rates! Some hotels on the east edge of the Old Town State park charge as much as $35.00 per night for parking, here at the Old Town Inn, parking is free. Many hotels charge for internet access, here at the Old Town Inn, our wifi is free. As I tell guests on occasion, just about the only thing you pay extra for here at the Old Town Inn, is if you’d like to buy a bag of popcorn. We sell microwave popcorn and kettle corn at the front desk for only a dollar, and many of our guests buy a bag to go with one of our free DVD movie rentals. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we look forward to seeing you on your next trip to San Diego!

Despite being fully booked, the friendly and helpful staff were able to rectify my reservation error as I had mistakenly booked for three person when we were four. A rollaway supplied quickly. Room good with enough room for four persons with luggage. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice and in a pleasant dining room. Location is a 5 minute stroll to the Old Town which is interesting with touristy shops and plenty of eateries. The hotel is a short drive from Seaworld and an easy drive into the city.

Awesome complimentary breakfast! Homemade waffles, steel cut oats, all the condiments including cream cheese, cereal, pastries, assortment of fruit, bagels...I could go on and on. My picky toddler was well fed every morning! The kind staff looked out for us and even got a personal thank you note from housekeeping. I really want to stay here again. They thought of everything that would make our stay exceed expectations. Free dvd, nice landscaping, cozy lobby. Location for the zoo, Balboa Park, Old Town and Sea World was ideal.

Room Tip: We stayed on the end of the second floor, next to vending machines, stairway and back entrance of ho...

Dear Valued Guest,

I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and that your toddler enjoyed our continental breakfast. We introduced the steel cut oatmeal nearly a year ago, and it has been a big hit. JD from our corporate office has even been testing out flavoring the oatmeal, so the next time you come back, we may have one of his creations for you to try out.

Our owner and managers are always trying to find new ways to add value for our guests, and to exceed your expectations whenever possible, and we're always glad to receive any suggestions our guests have for ways that we can improve your experience. Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us, and I'm sure the housekeeper that cleaned your room would be glad to hear that you appreciated her note as well. We look forward to seeing you again on your next visit to San Diego!

Visited on a tourism trip to San Diego, going to the Zoo the next morning. Service, amenities, and the facilities were nice, and everything was clean. The only issue is that it is a bit of a drive to nearby destinations. After you arrive at night you won't really be able to go out to a bar or see the sights without a car.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are grateful for your feedback. I am sorry you did not find our location convenient during your stay. We are only a short walk (about 7 minutes) into Old Town, where there are lots of restaurants (and restaurants with bar areas). Although our hotel is in an industrial area, the Gaslamp Quarter, Seaport Village, Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo are all within a 5-10 minute drive, and you can also take public transit from the Old Town Transit station to most of the major attractions in San Diego.

Our main goals at the Old Town Inn are to welcome our guests with genuine hospitality, provide clean quality accommodations, and to do it all at an affordable price. These are the qualities that we strive to uphold as a hotel, and we take them very seriously because we know that our guests do as well. I hope you received the high standard of service that we strive to provide our guests.
Once again, thank you for choosing the Old Town Inn, and for taking the time to review your stay with us. It was a pleasure to have you as our guest.

Yours in Hospitality

Since it was our first trip to San Diego, CA, we were keen on staying in a hotel which is well connected, good and clean. We're happy we choose Old Town Inn and here is what we got there !! We arrived at around 10:45 AM while the Check-in time is 3:00 PM. However, we were offered our room immediately. There were 2 separate beds (this is what we booked), but after some time we decided to upgrade to King Bed room. Went and talked to Ms. Beatrize who is the General Manager of the hotel. She not only offered the room, but she also gave good deal on the King bed room!!

The room was spacious, clean & elegant.. comfortable with all accessories like TV, Fridge, Microwave, Wifi, Telephone, Clock, Coffee Maker etc. Next day we have to move around the city and have to travel to Irvine (80 miles from SD) in Pacific Surfliner train. Excited to find out that there was Bus stop, Trolly Station and Pacific Surfliner train station within 3 minutes of walk. You can reach anywhere in the city from this hotel without calling a cab.. This was very helpful for me as I don't have a US drivers license. Foreign tourist might find this hotel very very handy..

We were clicking snaps around the hotel at the time of check-out. One of their staff, Anna offered her help to click us around..may be 10-15 poses all around this beautiful hotel.. I can vouch for the service provided by the staffs..that too with a smile !!

One suggestion to the hotel management is that we missed a bottle of cold drinking water in the fridge. Why not consider putting 2-3 complementary water bottles in fridges for your guests.. I am sure, few cents a day will go a long way in increasing satisfaction of your guests..

This hotel has customer service nailed - super polite and welcoming staff set the scene for a great stay. Our room was well situated, the aircon unit was a little noisy overnight but otherwise no issues. Bathroom with standup shower was fine and a coffee machine in the room and ice machine down the corridor were nice touches. Great continental breakfast in the morning, plenty of parking. The Wifi was a little temperamental which was frustrating, but this may have been a temporary issue, or related to our distance from the main building as the connection improved inside. Great location just opposite the Old Town and the transport hub for reaching other parts of the city. Highly recommended.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for giving us your honest feedback. The Old Town Inn is a small hotel, and we work hard to provide our guests comfort and hospitality. Our housekeeping staff puts every effort into keeping the hotel as clean as possible. We all try to keep our guests as satisfied as we can. As you mentioned, we are just a short walk to the Old Town Transit Station, which is very convenient for our guests traveling without a car.

I am sorry to hear that you found the air conditioner to be a little noisy. We would like to apologize for that inconvenience, as well as the wi-fi problem that you had. We do have earplugs available at the front desk if any guest would like a pair. When a guest lets us know about a problem, we try to fix it right away. Again, thank you for choosing to stay at the Old Town Inn, thank you for your feedback, and we hope to see you again soon!

We stayed here for three nights and we were happy and comfortable. Reception staff were very good and very helpful. Our room was on the third foor but was easy to get to via the elevator. The room was very spacious with two queen sized beds and a kitchenette. It was clean and comfortable with TV, fridge, WiFi and hairdryer. We didn't use the pool but it looked fine. The breakfast room was clean and spacious with plenty of food, cereals and drinks to choose from. The hotel is out of the town centre but was two minutes walk from the Old Town Transit centre where we caught a train into town. We bought a two day pass which could be used on the buses as well and really got our money's worth from it. Travelling around was really easy. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Dear Valued Guest,
We would like to thank you so much for your feedback, and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay here at the Old Town Inn. We believe our AAA 2-Diamond hotel is well located, friendly, and very clean. Our housekeepers are very detailed in their work, and want our guests to feel like they are at home, so thank you for the compliment on the cleanliness of our rooms. I also love our continental breakfast, did your little one try out our delicious waffles?

We have many guests like yourself that find our location convenient to public transportation. I hope we gave you all the information you needed to know about the buses and trolleys. I read that you did not have a chance to swim in our pool, and I hope that gives you another good reason to come back to our hotel. On behalf of the Old Town Inn, I would like to thank you again for choosing to stay at our small property, and for taking the time to review us on Tripadvisor!
