We stayed 3 nights. It was very clean. The location was great. The front desk was very helpful and we were able to purchase zoo and trolley tickets right there. Beds were very comfortable. Definitely stay at this hotel again.

This was my first trip to San Diego. The Old Town Inn was great value for the money.
The standard economy room was very adequate in size for 1-2 people - queen-sized comfortable bed, walk-in closet, small but spotlessly clean bathroom, table and chairs and flat-screen TV & DVD. The Manager (Anna) was incredibly helpful and friendly, as were all the staff. The breakfast was a bonus, buffet style in a sunny room off the lobby. The pool area was in the center of a garden, with tables and chairs and loungers.Parking is free (even for my visitors). The buses/trains are just a few minutes walk down the street, so easy to get into the downtown area of the city if you don't have a car. The airport is just a short cab ride away as well. I would definitely stay in this hotel again, especially if I was taking a cruise from San Diego and wanted to arrive a day or two early. And by the way, make sure you do a Harbor Tour and visit the ships/museums - very interesting. Thanks again Anna!

Room Tip: The economy room does not come with a fridge or microwave - you can ask for this and pay just a litt...

A really cute inn located close to Old Town San Diego. A quaint exterior hides modern rooms. The staff was very friendly and the continental breakfast kept is full for the whole morning. All of the comforts of a hotel with the feel of Old Town, and for a great price.

I need to explain my high marks this way: I have looked twice for something to complain about and can't find it. I believe that each time I return here I will fall in love with it a little more. You can walk to the Old Town transit station in 4 mins. The rooms are modern, quiet, and clean. The landscaping of the grounds and pool area is a very nice surprise, with a tropical feel at night. The beds are the ultimate thing that matters to me in every room I review, so believe me here: The beds are very good (better than the Doubletree one I just slept on last night). The hot breakfast is good and above continental with waffles, but others are stepping up above this. The is a lot of space in the eating area. The staff will take care of whatever you need.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for choosing the Old Town Inn a second time, and for your review. We truly appreciate your feedback and compliments. It is so good to hear that you enjoyed your stay once again! Our company culture is to provide a quality, clean, affordable, and comfortable stay for our guests; I am glad that we could provide all of these qualities for you and very happy that we were able to meet all of your expectations.
Thank you for mentioning our modern rooms! We have recently spent a lot of time upgrading our rooms with new flat screens, granite countertops, furniture, etc., and we’re so glad you noticed. Another thing we were excited to hear mentioned in your review was our comfortable beds. We tested endless different types and put a lot of thought into choosing the right, most comfortable bed for our guests, which turned out to be the Simmons Beautyrest Pillowtop mattress; we agree that one of the most important things in a hotel room is the bed, and we are so happy that you loved it.
As you also mentioned, the Old Town Transit Station is a little more than a block away from the Old Town Inn. It was great to hear that our location was convenient for you. Although we are in a somewhat industrial area, the majority of our guests are just as content with the area’s convenience: a short walk to Old Town, and a few miles by car or public transit to the Zoo, Sea World, the airport, and the beaches. This is a major benefit to our unique location. Our owner likes to joke that “we are nowhere, but next door to everywhere!”
So, while we are a modest, independently owned hotel, we strive to make our guests’ stay an enjoyable and memorable one, and to ensure the quality that we stand for. We take great pride in our customer service, and our goal is to exceed our guests’ expectations in every way. We hope that we provided all of these qualities in your stay with us.

Thank you again for your review, we hope that the Old Town Inn will become your home away from home in San Diego!

Walls are VERY thin. I wanted to say bless you to the room next to us bc we could hear them sneeze and it was a constant pounding from above and I could tell you every time someone went to the bathroom.
Room was standard and front desk was fine. I liked the DVD library.
We stayed here to be close to the airport for an early flight. Glad we didn't plan on walking around. We decided to do drive through for dinner bc we were too worried to get out.
Nothing they can fix with the walls and not the worst hotel but bring earplugs! And we are here on "off" season.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Old Town Inn. We appreciate the positive comments about your stay but also the ways in which we did not meet your needs. It is sometimes a challenge to set the right expectations for our guests. I think we do a pretty good job on our website, and the majority of our guests have written honest reviews about their experience with us, what makes us standout from the rest, and why they rate us so highly.
We are a two star rated hotel property, with many free amenities that you may end up having to pay for in more expensive hotels. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed our free DVD rental collection. We put a lot of thought into providing good, recent and many classic movies for our guests, and we’re glad you noticed. Here at the Old Town Inn, we strive to provide quality, affordability, and great customer service to our guests, and we take great pride in making every guest’s stay an enjoyable experience.
I am sorry to hear that the people in the rooms near you were so noisy. As with any hotel, when this problem arises we suggest that you contact the front desk, and they would do their best to quiet down the noisy guests. Although we do not normally have this problem, it is always helpful to know that we keep earplugs at the front desk just in case, along with all of our other free toiletries that guests sometimes forget to bring with them: things like razors, toothbrushes, combs, etc. Our guests are welcome to these at any time.
As you mentioned, our location is a little unusual, and for that reason we do our best to try and familiarize future guests with what the immediately surrounding area around our property is like. In fact, I will usually tell people to take a look at some of our previous TripAdvisor reviews, so that they can get a feel for what other guests thought of our location. Our owner likes to joke that “we are nowhere but we’re right next door to everywhere!” I think that our location is very convenient for guests traveling downtown, to the airport, and to all of San Diego’s major attractions, like Sea World, the Zoo, the Beaches, and of course Old Town. The San Diego Bus and Trolley station is located almost across the street, making it easy to get around if you don’t have a car.
We are not everyone’s cup of tea, but we do tend to rate highly with guests who want to get the most for their dollar, value cleanliness, appreciate genuine hospitality and have done their research. Thank you again for taking the time to review us. We do hope you will give us another opportunity in the future.

Sincerely,
Alex | Customer Service Agent

From the courtesy of the hotel staff at booking to the complimentary breakfast (with WAFFLES!)-this is the place to stay in Old Town. The price is unbelievably inexpensive for what you get - a clean room with first class linens, comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms ( toilet, shower and sink in separate area from sink/vanity), good water pressure, flat-screen TVs, fridge, microwave and coffee pot. We stay here frequently during football season so we can take the trolley (RIGHT across the street) to the stadium and don't have to worry about driving or parking. Now a lot of our friends have stayed here, too. They have a discount for AAA members. We love Anna and Cecily! They treat us like family!

Room Tip: We ask for a room in the back on the 3rd floor so we're away from the street and transportation...
