My wife and I stayed here for a week having read the reports on trip adviser. On arrival we were met by Cecily and Rebbeca who were very helpful.Having never been to an American Football game before I wanted to go and see the Chargers. They got the number for the Qualcom Stadium to see if there where any tickets left on sale so I didn't waste my journey. They also gave us detailed information as to how to get around the area.
Our room itself was spacious and clean but a little dated,it was also very dimly lit.We had the lift directly outside our room which blocked the natural sunlight so this would have had some affect. There was also some noise from the road that runs alongside.
The pool is in a nice setting with sun loungers and towels provided, some guests thought the pool was cold, I must admit I didn't and found it quite refreshing.
If like me,you find driving a chore on holiday, this place is well situated for getting around with the bus/train service a 3-4 mins walk and also just a little further to the Old Town itself.
While the hotel is not 5 star it is well worth the ratings given as it has everything you need,if I was to make a suggestion I would have loved it to have a bar so that you can have a drink and a chat with other travellers in the evening as the hotel seems to be very popular so book early if you chose to stay here, I certainly will should I visit San Diego again.
By the way we had a great day out watching the Chargers win 31-10.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the road at the front.

I found this hotel on the Internet and made my reservation after reading the reviews. The hotel looked like the pictures they posted and the lobby actually looked better. There was a mixup on my room upon my arrival around midnight, but the guy at the desk figured out the problem and I was in my room soon after. The room was well decorated and the bed was very comfortable and the was adequate. The only problem I had was that the TV channel guide didn't match those on the TV. The price is right and I would gladly stay here again.

This hotel is an older hotel, but so well maintained. The landscaping just adds to the pleasant appearance. Although on a busy highway, we heard no traffic noise. The location is perfect for visitors with Old Town within easy walking distance, as well as public transportation. An excellent breakfast, including waffles, is certainly a plus. Adequate parking near to your room, comfortable beds, well appointed rooms, free movies, mini refrigerator, what more could you want? Well, the very best is the attentive customer service by all the staff, from check-in until check-out. So rare these days to have staff who obviously care that your stay is pleasant. I will be returning to spend more nights here.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for choosing the Old Town Inn; it was an honor to have you stay with us! We are very grateful for the wonderful review, and appreciative that you took the time to write one. I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. It is always very helpful to us to know what pleases you so that we can continue to provide the service that you and our other guests expect.
As you mentioned, our AAA, two diamond hotel is well located, affordable, and comfortable. All of the staff at the Old Town Inn takes great pride in our hotel, and our customer service. Our maintenance crew is always on point at keeping our grounds lush and well kept, and the Front Desk is always ready to answer questions, give directions, help plan your day, and overall provide the service and hospitality they are known for. All of the Old Town Inn staff reads TripAdvisor and are truly grateful for your compliments.
We are very proud that we are always near the top of TripAdvisor in spite of the fact that we are an independent, older hotel with very competitive rates. The greatest compliment we can receive is to hear that you had a great stay, and that you would like to return in the future. Thank you again, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

As far as location goes, this hotel is great if you want to use public transportation.Amtrak,Coaster,MTS trolleys and buses are across Pacific Highway. A five minute walk.In ten minutes you are downtown from Old Town San Diego on the trolley.
The property is older ,but well maintained.Pool area was very nice as was the staff. Every person I dealt with at the front desk went out of their way to answer a question.
Old Town San Diego must have 30 restuarants,we tried 4 and all were very good espescially Pizza Bella.

What a great place. If you are looking for a one night stay or a longer one in San Diego, then stay at the Old Town Inn. A lovely place. Great and helpful staff. A good breakfast and light refreshments available all day. Located near to the national monument town of 'Old Town' and only 5 minutes from downtown San Diego. A lovely little pool with towels provided and a pleasant sitting area. There's even a laundry room! The bedrooms are comfortable and air conditioned. Highly recommended! Not a single complaint. Just Superb.

Room Tip: Try for a ground floor room and you can park your car right outside. Easy for lugging the luggage!

We just held a family reunion and our out of towers stayed here. This hotel could not have worked out any better. First, the staff is very good and want to ensure guest satisfaction. They were very accommodating for our many needs. Next, the rooms are updated, clean, and comfortable. It is a small complex and well appointed. The convenience of being directly across from the Old Town trolley and train station was perfect, not to mention an easy walk to Old Town restaurants (yum). While the area isn't the most scenic, it is extremely convenient. My only negative tip is be wary if you walk West on Taylor St. under the bridge toward Burger King, passing the mental services building, because some messed up people hover in that area. This hotel was perfect and all of our discerning relatives agreed, it was a perfect choice that fit every budget. They have a nice lobby, great breakfast room and a cute small pool area. If you want to explore San Diego on a budget and don't mind hopping on the trolley, this is a great choice. Free parking too!

Room Tip: This is a great Ittle secret, out of the mainstream but very convenient. They offer economy rooms...
