Came to town for the Broncos/Chargers game and the one thing this hotel has going for it, is the convenience factor...down the street from Qualcomm, lots of restaraunts nearby, and a trolley stop a short walk from the front desk. My interactions with the staff were pretty sparse, but the guy at the coffee bar Sunday morning was outstanding, and gave great customer service. Three stars for that.
The downside, and I was really unhappy with this aspect, and I can't believe how much I paid for this room. It was dirty...flat out dirty. Walked into the room and the first thing I notice is the overwhelming stench of musty, dirty gym socks. Pretty sure the carpet got wet at some point, and the room wasn't properly dried. Bathroom counter and fixtures were filfthy, there was a long black hair on the bathroom counter (I'm a redhead) and nothing was really wiped down. At some point this room had construction done it, as evidenced by the layer of white drywall dust that covered every surface in the bathroom and closet. The forced air filter had to be changed before I would even consider staying in this room, because after the dirty gym sock smell, the next thing I noticed was the thick layers of dust covering the filter cover. The sliding door to the balcony was screwed closed, so the engineer had to come remove it so we could open the door. When the engineer came to open the door and change the filter, he wiped all the dust from the filter cover into the carpet, and never came back with a vacuum to clean it up.
I'm sure every hotel in America hates Anthony Melchiorri and Hotel Impossible because I definitely view a room with a more critical eye than I used to. But in this case, I didn't have to go looking for the dirt, it was right there in the open.
For the record, some of the issues were resolved before we went out for the evening, but for the price I was paying for a room at the Marriott, I expect the room to be clean and ready upon check-in.
Also, there is plenty of parking, but if you have a large vehicle, the spaces are pretty small and you end up having to take two spots.
