“Good location with cool breeze”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

This hotel, I would rate as a 4 star, very sleek, modern, and clean. I liked that it overlooked the marina and was in walking distance of Seaport Village which has lots of restaurants and shops to explore. I didn't like the Venice like vendors along the walk way though because most looked homeless. The dessert of Brownie and Vanilla ice cream at the hotel was good. We stayed on the 15 floor, which I thought would hear less noise from below by pool and boats in marina..had to close door at times...I had read that walls were paper thin..which is true and I don't want to gross you out to tell you the noises I heard. If you want to walk , be next to the convention center, boats, or Petco Stadium for a baseball game this is a good site even to walk to Gaslight district. You get free wire fi at pool , but not in room. I was happy with early check in at 10:30 am when I arrived though. They did forget to do something for anniversary though.

Room Tip: North Tower with bay view

We celebrated our 49th Anniversary with a trip to the Garden Island of Kauai, Hawaii, taking a non-stop flight from San Diego. For the night before the long flight we enjoyed a restful night at the Marriott Marquis & Marina, a beautiful hotel right downtown by the convention center. The San Diego Comicon was just drawing to a close shortly after we checked in, so the hotel was still alive with colorful young characters who gave the atmosphere a note of festivity and celebration that we enjoyed very much. Once in our room on a high floor we had a haven of peace and quiet with a view on two sides of both the Marina and the city with the Coronado Bridge in the center. The essence of the city! Food in the crowded restaurant was well prepared and efficiently delivered, and we were seated in a quiet location in that vast space with a view of the garden. Everything that happened there gave us the message, "We care!"

I was at this hotel in July for a conference. I was placed in the South Tower on the 22nd floor in room 2218. This must have been the best of both worlds! I was in a king room with two balconies with views of both the city and the marina! The balcony overlooking the city was small and maybe 2 or 3 people could stand comfortably. The balcony overlooking the pool/marina had a small table and two chairs - very roomy. When I arrived late Saturday evening I was able to relax on the balcony and look at fireworks over the water. My room overlooked the pool and one evening there was a poolside reception and I could hear the music crystal clear - even though I was on the 22nd floor. People complain about the the train bells but it never bothered me.

My room was pretty big. I think that because this was a semi corner room that the design was a little off. The room curved with a wall. I feel that some of that dead space could have been used to make the bathroom bigger. Although the bathroom was super clean and the water pressure was good, the bathroom was very small. Towels were great - fluffy and super absorbent.

The Marina Kitchen is awesome! Great staff and good food. The have something called 'Marina Kitchen To Go' where you can order off the room service menu and pick it up at a To Go stand in restaurantrant . This way you avoid all the additional charges. The food was fresh and hot and very convenient. The room comes with a fridge that goes to 42 degree temperature - so this is not just a cooler box but a real fridge. If you neemicrowavewave they will bring one up at no additional charge.

All the staff were pretty awesome at this hotel.

I will upload my photos very very soon.

Room Tip: 2218 has two balconies. One looks over the city and the other looks over the marina.

Excellent hotel near one of the San Diego’s harbors. After an exciting day this is the perfect base to spend the evening with nice restaurants on walking distance and some interesting souvenir shops.
The gaslamp district is just a few minutes away by taxi. The hotel has got comfortable rooms to fit the Marriot standard. The location is breath taking. This is definitely worth while booking.

I stayed here for 3 nights during a conference at the convention center in July 2013. There was a long check-in line, but it moved very quickly. I checked in early, but was still able to get a room with an ocean view. It's a great view, but be advised that if there's a reception going on by the pool, you'll hear it. The rooms were in good shape; no complaints. The restaurants had good, reasonably priced food and room service was prompt. The gym was well appointed with a good number of treadmills and elliptical trainers. There is an early morninig crowd, so plan accordingly, especially if the hotel is hosting a conference crowd.

Easy access to the convention center, just a short walk. The pool area is nice, although the poolside staff was a bit show. The food and drink selection at the pool was very tasty and reasonable. The staff was very accommodating. Nothing bad to say about this visit. I woud stay there again.

Lovely resort very close to convention center. Wonderful location right on the waterfront. Eighth floor room had a spectacular view. Scenery was outstanding. Rooms were clean and comfortable and well supplied-far above standard. Shopping and restaurants were very close and convenient.

Room Tip: The only problem was waiting 40 minutes for breakfast when there was an early morning keynote speake...

This is a beautiful hotel in a wonderful location for conferences, Gaslamp dining, and baseball games. The rooms, linens, pillows, etc are perfect and the dining options are better than average. The pool area is amazing and the gym is very nice. The best part about the property, however, is the staff. From the doorman, to the bell desk, to registration, to bartenders and waitstaff - They are all fantastic!
