“Sensational Location - walk to everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

Stayed at the Hyatt Grand for 10 days recently and was really impressed with the great location overlooking the bay and within walk of the Gaslight area and the Midway and other downtown attractions.
The rooms (i had a king in the Harbor Tower) are modern with a nice desk area and settee and superb view over the bay and the softest pillows I have ever had in a hotel.
Quality service from the concierge through to the excellent bar staff. Across the road is a small hopping complex that includes a restaurant called Seasons 62 that I highly recommend, but make sure you book ahead.
The only problem I have with the Hyatt is as follows:- Super slow lifts; a shower recess with no soap holder which is great if you don't have a sore back; why don't upmarket hotels provide toilet brushes?? - anyway that's my thing.
I would stay here again when in SD. ps, join the Hyatt Club for free to get the WiFi free.

Room Tip: Either Tower with the view over the Midway

Everything from check in to check out had far exceeded my expectations. Every single staff member was so friendly immensely helpful. Parking gets pricey when you're staying for a long period of time like we did because they charge $16 every day. However, there is street parking around if you're willing to look for it. The view is gorgeous, the rooms are extremely clean, cleaning staff is very detail oriented, location is perfect, you're at the jinction of many different ddistric t s and 5 min away from gaslamp district, little Italy, etc. Lots of restaurants and bars in the area. They have a beautiful patio also with pool and jacuzzis. Very relaxing and overall, great experience at this top notch hotel. Beautiful lobby with very modern rooms.

We were there over Christmas for six nights and stayed in a conference suite. It did the job but we started out on the Harbor side and the view was of a rooftop, and while the city is pretty, we came to see the bay side, so we switched to the other tower. The furniture is not comfortable in these rooms, it's vinyl (easier to clean) and they are not big on extras, of anything, meaning you have to ask for them to bring everything to your room (cups, glasses, extra tissues, pillows, etc) which means you need to tip every time they bring you something. It is a very classy hotel with the coldest air conditioned hallways ever. I have to say, the staff at the hotel and Redfield's were fantastic! I can't say much about the pullout sofabed, it was not comfortable - if you can avoid sleeping on it, do. The great part though, was we had separate bathrooms. The conference suites are more for sales reps passing through who need showrooms, etc. But it does do the trick if you want separate living quarters with two full bathrooms, which was nice. All in all, I would stay there again but I would want a regular bed -which I heard was very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel, it was in the perfect location with great staff, and right across from lots of shops, restaurants and wonderful views.

The Manchester Hyatt is a special place. The hotel is beautiful and the area is clean and beautiful. We went to California planning to rent a car and explore but we never left the hotel area. There is plenty to do and the public transportation is cheap and right across the street. I cannot wait to go back!

Room Tip: Try to get the highest room available. The views from your room are pretty nice and you can spend a...

We had 2 rooms on the 10th floor late December 2013 for 5 nights. Great location, clean & tidy rooms, good facilities, with exception of gym which was undergoing refurbishment. Friendly staff. The only gripe was the elevators in the south wing. Hopelessly slow because I suspect some of them were out of service leaving the remainder overworked. On several occasions we got fed up with waiting and actually took the stairs; very ordinary.

Stayed here for a Thanksgiving Family vacation. The hotel is beautiful, has everything to offer. Great proximity to Sea Port Village, jet ski rentals, boat trips, the USS Midway- all in walking distance. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. We were on one of the higher floors so the view was outstanding. Service was outstanding - I would highly recommend and will stay here again if traveling back to the area.

Located near the Marina area, the hotel has 2 buildings with large swimming pools and a handful of jacuzzi tubs. However, judging from the crowd, I didn't get into the swimming pool. Rooms are decent but not spectacular, typical Hyatt style. Walking distance to the gas lamp district (quite a walk). Staff is OK but not super helpful. Hard to expect a large hotel like that to get everything right so that's OK. Will probably stay there again simply because of the location and view (yes, water view!).
