“First class hotel at a Great Value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

My husband and I have stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt over a half dozen times and have always had an enjoyable experience. The location is within walking to all the hot spots downtown and located right on the water. The pool has a nice view and great atmosphere with ample beach chairs. It is a short drive from the airport and is easily accessible from the highway.

This is a wonderful place to stay in San Diego. It has elegance but not stuffiness. Check-in was great...Hyatt's staff was very professional. I held a conference event here and the catering staff was very efficient and attentive (thank you, Sarah!). My 10th floor room overlooked the pool area between the 2 towers with views of the lovely bay. It was quiet and convenient. The bed was not firm enough for me but everything else was great. Plenty of outlets for all the electronics, enough cable TV stations. Great furnishings, in-room safe. The only criticism is the bathroom lighting...it is eery looking at yourself in their mirror, difficult for putting on make-up. Their magnified vanity mirror was kind of cheap and I didn't even use it.
If you are there for an event at the Convention Center, bring walking shoes because it is a 10 minute walk to the Convention Center but the walk there along the waterfront is gorgeous, especially if you like to "window-shop" for yachts and sail boats. Their workout room was wonderful. I could watch a beautiful San Diego sunset while running on the treadmill. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bay view looking northwest, west or southwest, and a high floor.

My room is nice with a modern decor. Everything is conveniently laid, with plenty of outlets for charging my devices.

Check-in was very fast and easy - something that is sorely lacking at most hotels.

The one negative is the noise level. Unfortunately my room abuts the elevator and any time it passes my room you can really here the mechanical components moving. Also, there is a railroad that runs through downtown San Diego right by the hotel. Even on the 29th floor I can hear the bell when the crossing gates go down.

The location is good. On the water, very close to the airport, and close to the Gas Light District (probably walking distance but I haven't tried yet).

Room Tip: ask to be away from the elevator and away from the city side for a quieter room

For an American hotel this is a good 'un. Often ont stateside trips the rooms are small, dark and full of old furniture. Luckily not this one. The rooms are a bit more modern, a good size and comfortable.

It's location is right next to the waterfront and has a few cafes etc nearby. The gaslamp district with all it's bars and restaurants is only 5-10mins walk.

There is a nice pool area with plenty of loungers that is clean and tidy.

The only negative of the hotel is the train line that runs nearby and the train drivers insistence on hooting their horns no matter what time of day or night it is. It doesn't hugely impact on your stay but is loud enough to wake you up on occasion of you're a light sleeper.

Overall though I would happily stay here again

We are here for a conference downstairs. First of all there is a charge for the internet and it is high. Then if you need to print something, there is not printer available in room AND you must print at their "complimentary 15 minute computers" in the lobby for 69 cents a page! No fax available either. There is a FedEx center in the hotel, but we all know how much that costs. The breakfast here is VERY expensive, recommend eating off site. Also, they did not have a king room available on check in and then offered us a "corner suite" for $50 MORE per night. When we got to the room, it had squishing wet carpet from an ice maker leaking so we had to move to... a King room on another floor without the fabulous view or extra room, but we did not have to pay the extra $50, but amazingly they had one available! hmmmm. This room had a foot missing on the coffee maker that leaked on our stuff because it sat crooked and the flat panel tv was loose on it's frame. There are so many of the switchplate covers, furnace cover, etc that are installed crooked, it makes my husband crazy. Parking is also expensive, so keep this in mind. The consierge desk is friendly and helpful. It is close to the harbor, seaport village, the USS Midway, etc... Walking distance to many good restaurants that are quite a bit less expensive than eating in the hotel. But if you need to conduct business here... not so great!

Room Tip: The corners facing the bay have a spectacular view. Save $$ using your personal hotspot instead of...

I went San diego Conferece center for a professional conference. I drive from LA to here, and on the way the GPS does not work. It is not difficult to find this hotel without GPS. The hotel is very close to the meeting place but not that close, so I can have a walk under sunshine every day! What a beautiful feeling.
The hotel is of course a grand hotel and its service is also under perfect trainning. I like the feeling in a 5 star hotel in such a beautiful city as San Diego. I wish I could come here again with my family next time.

Big spacious rooms, we got a sea facing room and we could see the USS Midway museum and all flights and chopper parked, plus good view of the city. People specially come to the hotel to sea the 360 degree sky view from the hotel top and I pretty much got atleast 180 degree view from my room itself.

Small problem faced was we reached at 8 am and we have to wait till 2 pm for the room.
