We checked into this hotel at roughly 12pm and checked out again at 1pm! Having read quite good reviews about the hotel and having stayed nearby before we decided to give this place a try. The first room we were given was a room for disabled guests which included low light switches, no bath only a shower with a seat and rails all round. That wasn't really a problem but the room had an awful smell and wasn't particually clean. We went back to the front desk and asked to be moved, which we were to next door. (don't know why they gave us a disabled room in the first place!). The next room wasn't any better. Again it had a terrible smell, long black hairs in the bath and the window in the room could be easily pushed out. Not a problem if we weren't on the ground floor with an alleyway behind us. We then went back to the front desk and said we wanted to leave. They offered us an upgrade at no extra charge to a $120 room. A little better although would be very annoyed if had booked the room at that price. Any way in the end decided just to leave which the staff seemed ok with and booked in to the Days Inn just up the road which was great.

Hotel is very dated, and the room decor and fixtures show it. However, the room is very spacious and the staff are friendly and helpful. Best part of this hotel is its location, close to everything in the heart of Mission Valley. For the price, it's a good value - just don't spend any time in it other than to sleep and it will be fine.

  • Liked — location, room size
  • Disliked — dated furniture, 1st floor rooms open directly to parking lot in typical "cheap motel" layout.

I'm a little late in reviewing this place, but thought that I needed to defend it after reading so many terrible reviews. I should note that I am not the pickiest of people when it comes to motel/hotel rooms. As long as it is clean and safe, I'm basically happy.

I stayed at this motel in a king bed room for 5 nights. The room seemed clean enough and I thought the bed was comfortable. Our room wasn't right next to the freeway, so the noise didn't bother me (I should mention that I am super sensitive to noise, so the fact that I didn't hear anything at all is impressive). The decor was basic motel decor--nothing I would decorate my house with, but not overly depressing or dated. The window in the bathroom was a little strange, but it never became a problem. I found the front desk staff to be very friendly and accomodating. We were able to buy Sea World tickets at the front desk, which saved us a long wait in line.

This motel is also centrally located. We walked to the Fashion Valley mall for food and to catch the train to Old Town (which is definitely worth a look--very cute and great food choices!). It was about a mile, we just cut through the Town and Country Resort (where our conference was held). The only real negative to this motel was the pool. It wasn't heated and the hot tub was only luke warm. Pool seemed clean enough though.

The best part of this motel is the breakfast restaurant, Adam's Steak and Eggs! Incredibly cheap--I never paid over $8 and on average only spent about $6. Fresh cream for coffee, everything tasted homemade, and the corn pancakes were the best I've ever had. I'm actually very picky about food (unlike motel rooms) and really, this was great food. The Pam-Pam restaurant up the street (connected to some other hotel, but I can't remember which) is also pretty decent for late night, standard "American" cuisine.

All in all, the rooms are fine. They were cheap and suited our needs perfectly. Remember, this is a Travelodge, not a Hilton. Regardless of whether you stay at the motel or not, I would recommend Adam's for breakfast!

The carpet was wet, the bathroom was dirty, the blankets had stains on them, the water in the bathroom sink was backed up and there were flys in the room. When I complained to the management, they encouraged me to check out and find another hotel!!

This hotel was OK. It was what we paid for. Don't expect the front desk to help at night as they are closed. The rooms were clean and kept clean. We did have to call for them to fix our shower which they immediately did. Be aware that they charge you for the use of the in room safe whether you uise it or not. We rented two rooms for 5 nights and were charged a total of $16.60 for safe use, which we did not use.
