“Parking Fee Outrageous; Small rooms”

I booked this hotel through priceline and thought I got a good deal. My wife and I have a 5 yr old and 7 yr old and wanted to take him to the zoo and we really wanted double beds. However, the receptionist said that none were availabe and we ended up in this tiny room with only one bed and to top it all off it faced the freeway. It seems that the receptionist deliberately gave us the worst room possible since it says priceline on the reservation. They also charge an arm and a leg for parking and they don't even validate the parking even though you are staying at their hotel . . . what, do they think you got there by foot? Some of the receptionists you can barely understand (I think they are Indian) and they are very impolite . . . I guess they don't know how to smile or at least pretend. Anyway, I felt like a 3rd class guest at this hotel.

This hotel has a convienient location which makes it easy to get around town. They do charge for parking($6-12) per night. The rooms are smallish but well kept. They are in the midst of a major renovation, so it can be quite noisy during the day. We stayed on the 11th floor, but could still hear the work going on. If you like to sleep late, this may not be your best choice. If you're up and out early, this is a fine location with a very helpful and friendly staff.

First Warning: The property is NOT quite Downtown. If you're thinking you can easily walk to any downtown tourist attractions, try the Holiday Inn Bayfront (or Bayside, I can't exactly recall.) This property is sandwiched between a freeway, and the residential outskirts of downtown.

Second Warning: The hotel looks like a giant cheese log. Hickory Farms should have its stockholder meetings here.
The hotel is a large tube-turned-upright. I fear if it fell over in an earthquake, it would roll downhill into the bay. But at least then it would have a good location.

The property itself is a bit cheesy, too. Holiday Inns can go good or not as good, this one qualifies as the latter. It was comfortable and quiet, the desk staff a bit sluggish--they're obviously overworked, but the desk is so small, no more staff can be placed there. The whole hotel is a highly forgettable experience if you stay in a lot of hotels. Not that this is a bad thing--everything was smooth and as it should be.

And with the lights off, you have no idea you're sleeping in a big ol' log.

“Good Experience”

We needed a room for one night. Nice downtown location. Close to bay, close to good restaurants, close to interstate, close to airport and car rentals. Older hotel but staff was very helpful and room was nice and clean with a good downtown view. The price we paid through priceline was very fair and considering that it was an awesome value. The only negative for the hotel is the 12 dollar charge for parking in their own lot that is connected to the hotel. One is unaware of this charge when using priceline.

“Can't sleep at Holiday Inn Downtown”

Dec 4, 2007

I am writing from my hotel room. i can barely concentrate or sleep due to the very loud freeway noise. I am a business traveller and this is my second time staying here. The first time I stayed at the upper levels and not facing the freeway and there was not much of a problem. This time I am on the fourth floor and the noise is absolutely ridiculous. I asked the staff if I could change my room and without even trying to locate another room they said NO!
They are advertising their custom pillows that I thought I would be entitled to and one hour a go they said they will bring one up in a few minutes. I got a very nice sincere letter from the hotel manager asking me to bring any issues up to her attention, which sounds nice. But even when I called for a wake up call they seemed annoyed.
Otherwise, the room is pretty modest and small. I am paying $139/day, which is not bad but I rather pay another $100/day and get a good night sleep at the W!! Big mistake!!
