“What a mistake.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

A cylindrical hotel in a lovely downtown area near the most beautiful bay..... So how could it go wrong? The hotel is situated right next to a major highway/motorway and one of the off ramps wraps around the building. It's very hard to drive into and almost impossible to drive out without being forced down the highway/motorway on ramp. The room was tiny. No proper bathroom door, just a sliding screen. The cafe/coffeeshop was a strange and expensive place. The staff were uninterested. They tried to charge me for 3x the days for parking fee. Not really close enough to walk easily to any of the attractions, and there are some 'less than desirable' areas to walk through, due to its location. The pool is tiny, impossible to do laps. Just don't do it. So many other choices. Ruined our holiday. Yuck

Stayed at this hotel for the 2nd consecutive year prior to/at the beginning of Comic Con. The 2013 visit was for the Wednesday 7/17. My CC plans changed and I needed one additional night so this hotel fit the bill.

What i really appreciated is, having arrived very early (930 or so), being accommodated to a room as I totally would have understood if told to come back later. This was city #2 of a vacation and my only choice was early-morning arrival in order to do the CC preview night. Add that to that fact that i was recuperating from a broken foot (so taking it easy), the early checkin really helped.

Room was very comfy and quiet despite being on lower floor. As with last year, staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful from front desk to shuttle driver. My only feedback is that the communication regarding airport shuttle ETA needs to be more realistic (longer wait isnt cool when traveling for hours -- just be accurate, I appreciate the shuttle) -- then again a free shuttle is a great amenity. Specific to staff, kudos again to Bertha at the front desk who is absolutely wonderful and to your on-site manager who was personally greeting CC guests to make sure they were taken care of.

Would definitely stay here again and again. Great location as well...up the hill from Little Italy plus short walk from downtown core (bus line runs on 1st/2nd Aves if you're getting a pass anyhow). Thanks for a great stay

I recently traveled to San Diego for the weekend. It was my first trip to the city. I enjoyed my stay at Four Points. I loved that the hotel provided a free shuttle to and from the airport. Check-in was a bit on the slow side when we arrived, but Jennifer, our check-in rep was very attentive and helpful. It was late and we wanted to get a bite to eat and she was able to direct us to restaurants within walking distance.

The rooms aren't very large, but efficient and the beds are very comfortable. You'll find general amenities on site like access to a safe in your room, coffee (which is pretty good), free WiFi (a service I think all hotels should offer for free), fitness center (didn't use), outdoor pool, restaurant and more. Overnight parking is only $17.

It's downtown location puts you close to some popular San Diego sites. I liked that we were within walking distance to San Diego's Little Italy. Very good Italian and I recommend dining their one night while it town.

Four Points was a good value for the money and I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again in future travels,

The hotel was nice. It was a little confusing when registering. There were mostly handicap parking outfront. The registration area is small. The room was fine. The bed was comfortable. We really enjoyed the Bay View as you can see the bay and also see the airport. We also left Sea World early because we were able to see there fireworks from our hotel room. The location was great. We had no problem getting to where we needed to go. Con: The water pressure in the shower was not very strong and the parking at the location was a little scary. You really have to be careful when going up or down the ramps for the parking.

I booked a six night stay with my family through Hotwire on an unseen deal for a low price.( not worth it ) For starters the hotel is surrounded by homeless camps and pan handlers, if you take a 15 minute walk to Gas lamp that's what you will see! The hotel lobby is very small and uninviting. The hotel its self is very old and it shows in the décor. Two big issues about the hotel. One is the parking spaces are very small, good if your driving a golf cart but very tough if you have a full size vehicle and you pay $17 per night for the chance of getting your car banged up while parked there and on a busy weekend the hotel runs out of parking spaces. Second of all, the bathroom door in the rooms has a sliding wooden door with frosted plastic windows in the door and when you slide the door closed there are gaps on both sides of the door, which gives you no privacy when using the bathroom. The hotel staff are nice and they try to be helpful but they really need to be when working in a hotel that is old and has so many issues. On the positive side the hotel is right next to the freeway for easy access and close to local attractions and the rooms are a decent size. At best this hotel is only good for business travelers and definitely not families. The pool is very small and the hotel only has a coffee shop. The parking issues, the homeless surrounding the hotel are two reasons why I would not recommend this hotel, you can book a much nicer hotel for the same amount of money.

Room Tip: Get a room on one of the higher floors as to not hear the freeway traffic.

Had a pleasant stay at the Four Points Sheraton San Diego Downtown. Had a Deluxe Double Room on the 12th floor overlooking the airport and the bay. Pro: Nice view of the bay. Con: Hearing the traffic from the freeway (which was right below us) and the airplanes flying next to the hotel. Pro: Great location. Close to the Gaslamp District. Close to Seaworld. Con: light in the bathroom was broken. Also, the hotel smelled like mcdonalds. Whenever we entered the hotel and stepped into the elevator and into the hallways, it smelled like mcdonalds fast food. We assumed it was from the cafe downstairs. The hallways were warm as well. The inside of the room was small, but hey, its a round hotel. It will be small. Beds were average. Comfy bedding. Pillows were way too soft but there were plenty to make up for it. The staff was very helpful. Parking was $17 a night. (which isnt too bad considering other hotels in the same vicinity are much much more). Pool was tiny but nice. Parking stalls were rather difficult to park in but plenty of stalls. I would consider coming back to stay here again. Check out was at noon which was super nice and internet was free! I would recommend this place if you are on a budget and looking for a nice stay with nice people to help!

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher floor. Some rooms on the lower floors face the cars parked on the upper pa...

We stayed for 4 nights. Hotel was centrally located to the zoo and Seaworld. The first night we easily walked to Little Italy and then down to the waterfront. We made sure to get back before night time. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. No freeway noise at all. Parking was interesting but we managed to park fine every night. The parking spaces look small but we parked with a mid size car just fine. The bathroom door was a sliding door without a lock and was not sound proof. If anything I would recommend a door with a lock. Other than that I would stay there again and would use Priceline again.
