Spent over night at the embassy suites for an overnight getawy with my wife on our first month of being wed. We loved the hotel chains since we spent our wedding night at the Pasadana, CA location. The staff were helpful, the room was clean and stocked with enough towels.
There was a PF Chang restaurant next door which was convienent for dinner as we only wanted to spend a night and not drive around much.
I'm big on breakfast, so i was looking forward to the morning breakfast spread they usualy have.
We are not picky at all except when it comes to hygiene and food, which is what dissapionted me the most about my experience this time. During breakfast i saw a couple roaches by the clean plate area and it just about ruin my hunger for food.
I was really suprised at this, i had come to live staying at this hotel. This is the reason why i rated the hotel ok.
Maybe it was an isolated incident, but we are considering trying other hotels.

Our family (2 adults & a 4-year-old) stayed here for a week in the beginning of February, our first visit to southern CA. The general area where the hotel is located is clean and safe feeling, easy to get to and from, and there are lots of dining and shopping options nearby. The lobby and multi-story atrium are very nice, seemingly recently updated. Our room was a little tired looking, and had a slight musty smell, but neither was enough to make us want to leave. The suite was perfect for our stay - with a separate bedroom, and mini fridge and microwave. The staff was very nice. Breakfasts were nice - lots of choices of both hot and cold food. The hot breakfast bar was good, and they had a different special each day. The managers reception was nice to have - food was limited to nachos and pretzels, but it was still nice to have a snack and drink after getting back to the hotel. They charge $12 a day to park in their ramp - a bit steep while staying at the hotel. Pools and pool areas were always clean. The indoor pool was nice to have, since it wasn't always so warm. Hot tub is outside. We loved the San Diego and La Jolla areas and were very satisfied with this hotel, and would stay here again.

Our family (2 boys 6 and 9) stayed here for 6 nights beg of Sept. We found the location very convenient (but you do need a car - and then get charged a hefty $12 day for parking). It was only 15mins to Legoland, and the animal safari park, even less to Seaworld and the beach. The chef needs lessons on how to cook decent scrambled eggs - the breakfast was very ordinary compared to other embassys we've stayed at (Vegas, Niagara, Washington DC). The rooms are also in need of updating, but the service was pretty good in most areas. The hi-speed internet access was a joke - it kept dropping out and was very unreliable and frustrating. For $169 a night plus parking, we were disappointed - but the convenience of two rooms and two tvs was our main reason for booking here - perhaps downtown embassy might have been better.

Embassy Suites needs to update their furniture and decor in the rooms. Otherwise, this hotel has spacious rooms and adequate amenities. Charging overnight guests $12 each night to park on property is ridiculous! I did utilize and enjoy the exercise room -- nice equipment. I don't care for La Jolla that much, so next time I think we'll stay at the Embassy Suites San Diego. My fiance and I took this trip alone but this hotel is well-suited to families.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites La Jolla during a workweek in August 2005. Overall I was pleased with my stay, and if I ever get back down this way again, I will stay here.

Check-in was during the evening rush, not too fast and not too slow. My Hilton HHonors Gold status finally paid off as I was assigned to a huge corner suite on the 10th floor (which is their HHonors floor). I have no complaints about the room. It was clean and quiet in there. It was big enough that I could host a workgroup of six for a breakout session during one of the days we met. There was wireless internet access in the room for $9.95/day. It tended to bog down during peak periods, but was still much better than dialup.

The exercise room is on the lobby level, off to the side of the pool. It was well equipped with three treadmills and three bikes, plus a stairclimber or two. Adjacent to the University Town Center across La Jolla Village Drive, there is a 24-Hour Fitness facility for those who want more of a weight workout. I did not check to see if the hotel gives out passes to this gym, but it would be nice if they did. Speaking of the University Town Center, it was quite convenient to walk over there for lunch and grab a quick bite at one of the many fast food vendors. We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant adjacent to the mall, Cozymel's, and for a chain it was quite good - and fast, too.

Laundry facilities are in the ice-and-vending area on floors 2 through 5. There is no charge to use the washers and dryers; bring your own soap and fabric softener for a completely free experience!

Parking is $12 a day, as previously reported. Make sure you get a parking card when you check in, I didn't and had to pay the fee when I left the lot. Not a big hassle but just something to remember.
