Embassy suites is a awsome hotel but the construction was bad. It was a weekend and with some of the elevators down it was a nightmare to get to our floor or to the breakfast buffet. It took sometimes 5 minutes or more just to get an elevator

Very close to downtown area which was nice. It was walking distance to alot of shops

Parking was high priced and u really had no choice to pay the valet parking as there was no other areas to park for free or for less.

I would recommend this hotel. The price is good and u get a managers reception from 5 pm to 7 pm and a great made to order breakfast. But the valet parking is costly that is why I have to give this hotel a 3 star. Parking there should be cheaper not 29.00 a night

I was here for work (in March BEFORE their current construction) and was pleasantly surprised as I usually try to avoid Embassy Suites. I am always annoyed with the layout of the giant open center area for breakfast that always seems to echo and you can smell the grill throughout the entire place. This Embassy seemed to have a little more ambiance than most and was not as dated as they usually are.

The location is very nice for downtown. It is immediately across the street from the new outdoor shopping/eating area: The Headquarters at Seaport (love this place!). You an walk just a tiny bit more and get to Seaport Village. The Gaslamp District and stadium are also within 10-12 blocks.

The rooms were not newly remodeled, but in pretty good shape. They are "suites" so they have the two room setup with was actually kind of nice, though the room on the inside was dark as a result. Everything was very clean, bed was quite comfortable, and the entire huge window opened for air. We were on a high floor and had a nice city view.

Overall, I would stay here again if needing to be downtown, even prior to the remodel. It's wasn't cute and trendy, but there is little to complain about.

Room Tip: city or bay view, high floor

Even though they were in the final throws of construction we had a great experience the past week due to the efforts of the hotel staff. Food manager Adam and Assistant Hotel Manager Chris were great examples of staff's efforts to make it a great experience. The hotel even sent champagne and an hors d'oeuvres tray to our room once they found out we were celebrating our 40th anniversary. Janet, the hotel concierge, was very helpful in arranging tours of SD. We look forward to returning to the hotel in the immediate future.

I just wanted to let you know this hotel in under construction. It does not have the same ambiance with the construction. You are very limited. The evening reception and morning breakfast is very small and crowded.

Scott W, what a shame that you missed the upper atrium opening by what seems a couple of days. All of the services that you mentioned in you review are now being enjoyed in our newly renovated space. Please come back and enjoy our great location and our new look!

Had meeting in this hotel and it was under construction which we were told should be completed when we scheduled the meeting. Really couldn't use anything in the hotel but still got charged for $200 a night. The free breakfast is also terrible.

This hotel should have a huge notice on their website "Our entire facility is under a gut renovation" before you book a room. Twice the water was out, another occasion without hot water and an 11:30 power outage in my room was the frosting on the cake. I get it, stuff happens but a simple 'can we help you move your luggage?, or would you like assistance moving rooms?' is the least they could of done. Instead I was handed a new room key (which didn't work) and an expression from the front desk clerk that communicated 'it sucks to be you'. All of the conference rooms are unlabeled (again, remember the mentioned construction) so you are left opening door after door in hopes you see a familiar face.

This is a property that isn't even trying to make accommodations for their guests in difficult situations. I would steer clear, choose the Marriot, Hyatt or Hilton a few moments from the convention center.

Room Tip: Rooms in another property

Green Features: Hard to tell when the entire place is coated in dust. Typical reuse the towels like any other property.

Longdays7, no need to wait another 6 months. We have tried very hard to manage through the renovation to keep the Embassy Suites experience intact. I regret that you did not enjoy your stay. I am happy to report that our upper atrium is complete and is back in operation for breakfast and evening reception. We look forward to exceeding your expectations next time.
