Family of 4, on a 3 day stay after leaving a Cruise. Great location on the doorstep of both the downtown shopping and Seaport Village, and walking distance from bith the Cruise terminal and Amtrak - both of which we did with all bags ! Able to check in at 9.30am which was fantastic, receptionist also suggested we grabbed some free breakfast, despite the fact we weren't really entitled to it. All rooms are Suites, are spacious with settee, tables, TV area, as well as comfortable bedrooms and with great bay views. Clean and tidy throughout. Concierge very helpful and well informed, she got taxi fare exactly right for 2 journeys, and restaurant receommendations were spot on. Complimentary Breakfast and evening drinks were excellent, and it seemed were used by the whole hotel. The servers for both were really helpful and friendly We used the gym, business centre and flight check in facility, everything worked well and met our expectations. Highly recommended and we will stay there again.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the downtown embassy suites. I must say I enjoyed this site so much more than the la jolla site. I just thought everything about it was better. Obviously the location is better. But the service and the overall hotel quality just seemed more pleasant. the rooms were very comfortable and the hotel room was quiet.....despite being in a noisy environment. The hotel resaurant was great, but I'd advice not to place a to-go order at the restaurant......just don't do it. Get room service or eat in. The complementary breakfast and managers reception at embassy suites is certainly refreshing. Not many other hotels offer such hospitality at no cost.

We moved from a resort and spa in San Diego after a terrible night stay to Embassy Suites. It mended a doomed vacation. The service was impeccable. We checked in quickly and smoothly. We were in the comfortable room in no time. The crib was there as requested, whereas other hotels, you have to call down three times to have it delivered. The manager's reception (AKA open bar) also catered to families with a disney movie and Cream Soda station on one end. The Nacho stand was a favorite for my three kids. The pool was indoor and never too crowded. The rooms were cleaned promptly and thoroughly. The breakfast lines moved quickly and if the atrium was crowded, they opened up more seating in the restaurant. There were three different people at the concierge desk and all were very helpful and truthful. The one time we didn't listen to the advise of the concierge, we regretted it and saw she was completely correct on her view of a particular restaurant. The valets were incredibly prompt and very professional.

After a terrible terrible experience at another hotel the night before, embassy literally saved our vacation. Thank you!!

I booked the "Suite Shopping Package" through Hilton.com. After reading a review mentioning this package, I called the hotel directly to see if they had solved the problem. When I reached the front desk, they redirected my call to the 800reservation line. The reservation line assured me that the hotel would know exactly what I was talking about.

Unconvinced, I had my husband call back and insist on speaking to the front desk at the hotel. They also assured him that there would not be a problem.

At check-in, the lady at the desk was friendly and helpful. There was a box (with a welcom gift) and evelopes containing the gift cards (a $25 gift card per night to the Horton Plaza was included) waiting for me with my name on it. I was also given a coupon for a free in-suite movie and a pizza/soda "family pack". She informed me parking was $28 a day. I reminded her that it was supposed to be included in the package. She said she would try to take care of it but, I would need to check my bill at the end of my stay.

On the last morning, the bill was place underneath the door and the valet charges had been added each day. My total room charges were supposed to be $2598 including valet plus tax. I went to the front desk and explained the situation. The lady was also polite and took the charges off the bill. This took some time as she had to remove them individually for seven nights.

When she printed a new bill for me, I only glanced to see that the charges had been removed. After checking emails, I looked at the bill one final time to see that I was being charged $2989 + tax for the seven night stay. I logged into Hilton.com and printed off the original confirmation which I took with me to the front desk. The lady behind the counter did not know what had happened and she was unable to fix it until her manager got in.

This was really not a problem because we were not planning on checking out for a few hours. Two hours late, I returned to the desk and a different woman was there. I explained who I was and she called her manager who was still working on the bill. He told her that it would be sent to my room when he was finished. It was up there within and hour.

This was a hassle and while everyone was polite, there was no apology offered.

The good parts of the hotel were the full breakfast and the complimentary manager's reception. These areas got quite full (it was high season and also ComiCon was there at the same time) but, the people were always friendly and they worked quickly. For kids, there was also a nice area for kids to watch movies and a lady making Italian Sodas for them which never got too busy. In the morning, a man made balloon animals. He did excellent work. He even made sure to tell us that he was being paid and in no way did he expect tips. I thought that was execptional.

The indoor pool area and exercise exquipment were very nice. They did run out of pool towels and it took 45 minutes and many phone calls (I counted at least six different people calling) to finally receive towels.

Housekeeping was spotty as appears to be the trend in most hotels. Our bathroom floor was noticably dirty for the length of the stay but, the beds were always made and the room was usually ready by 12:00.

The valet service was probably the worst. There are no self parking options at the hotel and the cost is $28 not including tips. My son was in a day camp at Sea World and the back-up with the valet made us late on one occasion. We ended up coming down at 7:45am to get our car by 8:00. (As we found out the hard way Sea World camp waits for no man!) There were times when the wait was ten minutes and there were only two people waiting. One morning, they even had mixed our car up with another. They brought us the wrong car!!! When I told them it wasn't my car, they said that was the ticket I gave them. I am not sure what the point was but, I didn't think that entitled me to take someone else's car. ; ) After describing the car and telling them that there was no key ring, they then decided that they would need proof in order to give me my car. Really no big deal,I had the registration in the glove bod but, 5 minutes earlier I could have driven off in SOMEONE ELSE"S car.

All in all, I am beginning to not expect too much competency on vacation anymore.

We spent a Fri. & Sat. night at this hotel at the beginning of August. We redeemed our Hilton Honors points for the stay. We were able to check in upon arrival at 2 PM. The front desk staff was friendly both at check-in and check-out. The 7th floor City View room met our requests and the complimentary bottled water from Hilton Honors was delivered promptly.

The shower was great and we did not have any plumbing problems experienced by an earlier reviewer. The air conditioning was fine and we set the fan to On to keep it running for a constant room temperature (the temperature seemed to go up at night when set to Auto).

The maid knocked on the door about 9 AM the first morning, but we were about ready to leave, so it wasn't an inconvenience for us. Breakfast just after 8 AM on Sat. was very busy and chaotic with the many families present with children. We went at 7:30 AM on Sun. and it was much better. It costs $28/day to valet park in the hotel garage with in/out privileges. We did not use the car until we checked out and we walked easily to Seaport Village and the Embarcadero. We also walked to Petco Park on two nights and it was very safe with lots of people walking to & from the many hotels along the way. The Red Trolley also stops near the hotel and goes to Petco Park.

If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. The trolley and Amtrak can be noisy at night with the frequent whistles and crossing signals, especially in City View rooms.

I've stayed at this Embassy Suites numerous times, and it has always been an overall satisfying experience. I would stay here again in the future.
