“One nite visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

Booked in for the night we arrived in San Diego. It was fine, easy to find, clean and surprisingly quiet after we closed the balcony door. For the price we found on 'easytobook' it was a good choice/value.

Room Tip: look for a higher floor room

Thank you so much for your response. I am glad to hear that the street noise was not an issue for you as I think it depends guest to guest. I am also glad that everything was easy like finding us as we are in a very central to find location by the airport, right in Point Loma. We hope to see you again soon for another visit!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Check in was super easy and quick. Breakfast is OK, nothing special. Cereal, waffle machine, yogurt, minimal fruit, juice, bagels and toast. Pool is small and hot tub needed to be cleaned a little, but we enjoyed both. We had a marina view room and it was quite noisy due to the traffic on the street out front. It did quiet down later in the night, but I had a hard time going to sleep. The view is great, but not sure it is worth the noise. Overall, a pretty good hotel, not sure I would stay again with noise issue.

Sea World, Zoo, and Belmont Park are all within about 10 minutes. So, location is great for activities.

Thank you for your response. I understand that the noise issue can be frustrating, however, we do our best to provide white noise machines (sleep machines) for free at check in, also available 24/7 at the front desk to help eliminate the noise from the street. We are in the middle of a city and because of that, there are many cars and traffic throughout the day and night . I apologize for the noise, however, it is very hard to control and/or eliminate on such a busy street. Again, thank you for your response and I am glad that you had an easy quick check in and enjoyed the beautiful view which is why our location is so special to begin with.

Checked on early, no problems. Room was adequate. Bathroom on the small size but still fine. Breakfast was good variety and nice.
Downside: could hear neighbours and when I had a shower the water would go hot and cold.
Near airport do one night is enough. Maybe a better view would have made it better.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate the feedback. I am glad to see that you enjoyed our breakfast variety which I think is substantial for a free continental breakfast. I am not sure how you could have heard your neighbors unless they were yelling as the walls between each room are concrete and sound generally doesn't travel through the walls. I apologize that you ended up being disturbed by this noise. I always suggest the Harbor View room types upon booking as that will assure you the best view in the hotel. I am also glad that you enjoyed our hotel's location as we are very close to the airport and city center. If you have anything further, please dont hesitate to contact me at Ankanovasic@yachtharborhotel.com. Thank you again for your comments.

We stayed for 2 nights on our 2 week roadtrip and this was not the best Best Western that we stayed in. To start off with we were put in the wrong room and had to be moved to the correct room. The rooms are very small. The in room wifi was the worst out of our whole trip....took forever to get connected and then it was really spotty. We didn't try the breakfast.
Other reviews mentioned the road noise and we were a liitle worried, but the noise wasn't ever a problem for us. We were never bothered by any airplane noise either.
The front desk staff was very helpful both at check in and check out.
If we ever go back to San Diego this won't be our choice of hotels.

I am glad to hear that the street and airplane noise was not an issue for you. I think it depends on sleeping patterns and each guest's sensitivity to noise, which is why we also provide white noise machines (sleep machines) at check in to eliminate extra road noise that might be irritating to some during their sleep. With regards to the room size issue that you mentioned, we offer 3 different room types ranging from 253 sf to 346 sf. plus large private balconies. The Harbor View room type, which is the largest room type we have, might have been a better fit for you. Upon researching your stay, the wifi problems were traced to faulty equipment from our cable internet provider which was replaced promptly. We have not had any issues since then. If you do want to give us another chance, which I hope you do, for an improved experience - please feel free to contact me at Ankanovasic@yachtharborhotel.com.

We arrived here around 11:30pm after a long drive from Las Vegas. From the outside, this place looked alright. Once we stepped into the lobby, however, this all changed. Everything looked run down and in serious need of renovation. The man at the front desk did not even stand up from his desk to greet us, and was not pleasant at all. He was enthralled with something he was watching on his computer in front of him and had this disgusting smirk on his face while he continued to watch that instead of making eye contact with us. He seemed thoroughly irritated that we had disturbed him. He proceeded to give us the wrong directions to our room, and skirted any further questions we had about the area. People like this have no business working in the service industry! Our hotel room seemed damp and dirty: the bathroom was the size of a small closet, and the fabric shower curtain smelled musty. When we opened our curtain to the balcony, we discovered that anyone standing in ANY of the halls or stairwells could see right into our room. If you like cheap, fluorescent lighting, and stained, worn carpet, this is the place for you. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel was that we had a balcony with a great view of the harbor. I know this is not typical of Best Western hotels, but this one needs help.

Room Tip: If you must stay here, ask for a room on the 4th floor facing the harbor.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I am surprised to hear the commentary regarding our staff member during the check in process as we are generally recognized as a superior service hotel. All staff has been alerted to review this posting. With regards to the physical condition of the hotel, the hotel lobby was completely renovated 4 years ago and is quite modern as our pictures show online. Our rooms also consistently achieve high ratings for cleanliness and have been inspected thoroughly, yielding high annual scores from our Best Western Quality Assessment visits. Again, I apologize that you did not feel the same way upon entering the room. Lastly, there is only one hallway out of the 3 hallways that could possibly have a sideways view into your room, and we provide blackout and sheer curtains for privacy in all rooms. Again, I apologize you did not share the same sentiment as most of our guests do upon checking in/checking out of the property and I invite you to contact me directly so I can further address your complaints.

My wife and I arrived at 11:00 AM due to early morning flights. The person at the front desk was able to find a room that was ready. She was very pleasant and provided us with a map of San Diego and recommended restaurants and places to visit. The hotel is definitely not new but the room was very clean and modern in appearance. Coffee maker, microwave, and fridge included. Sliding glass doors opened onto a large balcony but no chairs or table. ( a bit of a dissapointment) Continental breakfast is provided - a very nice touch was coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, fresh baked cookies, and bowls of apples in the lobby. The swimming pool is small but clean and refreshing. Lots of free parking is available. The location of this hotel is close to the water so if you are into boats, seafood, and enjoy walking this place is great. Restaurants, stores, and liquor stores are all within walking distance.

Room Tip: If you are booked into a room at the front of the building, you will get traffic noise.
