“Blue Sea Lodge best on the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

If you are looking to a great hotel with an awesome view of the ocean then this hotel has it. Walking for anything is very close at hand. Hotel and staff are great, nice big rooms and nice size bathrooms

Terrible - that is one word that sums up our stay there. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights this summer and we would NEVER go back. The only good thing going on there is that the beach is close by. During our stay, we called the front desk 3 times to get the A/C working in our room; we finally gave up and "baked" in our 80+ degree room the entire stay. Also, on one of the days that someone was supposed to fix the A/C, our sliding door was left competely open - the entire day! Is was very noticeable when we got back to the room, and we were in shock to see what they had done. They were very lucky that our personal belongings were not stolen. The only thing the front desk said to us about that was "sorry" - nothing else was done. Nothing was even said or done for us about the A/C problem. They did NOTHING to make our stay there enjoyable. DO NOT STAY HERE, unless you want to risk the same happening to you. They do not care about customer service. We will not be coming back.

I have read a lot of the reviews about this hotel and I am surprised at the ones that are negative. We had a terrible stay at a Best Western at Shelter Island so we decided to move. We had a bunch of friends staying on Mission Beach near the Best Western and thought what the heck let’s stay there.

Location, Location, Location is pretty much as good as it gets. The beach is right there and there are restaurants all within in walking distance. The boardwalk is a blast and my daughter brought her long board and she would ride up and down the beach. We had a bunch of things to bring down to the beach and it was so nice not having to cross any streets etc. Our friends where right next to BW and across the street so it was great.

Room: We got room 510 which was a partial ocean view. The room was very clean and perfect size for myself and my two kids. The room had two queen size beds. The room had a great AC that blew very cold air . The bathroom was also very nice and perfect for a family. Now when I do travel with my wife we usually go to Coronado and stay at the Lowes. Just FYI this is not that kind of resort. With that being said the room was very nice and clean and very comfortable. When you are staying this close to the beach you want to be outside.

Lobby Area: Very clean and they have a little coffee shop upfront. The front desk people where very nice as well. We did not use the pool or Jacuzzi but it looked good.

Parking: The $18 dollars a night was worth it. Now in front of the hotel you can look for free parking but it’s a little tough. The other option is to drive across the street and look for spots. To me it was worth paying the money.

If you are looking for a great place that is close to everything this is the spot. If you are looking for a five star resort with a ton of amenities this would not be your location. With all that being said I would never have an issue about staying here and look forward to my next trip.

Room Tip: The rooms directly facing the ocean look great from the outside. Can't beat that view but our p...

Stayed at Blue Sea 2/27 to 3/2 2013. Excellent location. VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF. First room had un clean bathtub. The staff fixed immediatly and gave us an excellent upgraded room for same price. The motel is designed to give every room an ocean view. Some direct some angle but all good.

Room Tip: Best ocean view in front rooms. however pool view rooms also have geat ,at angle, view ocean. As e...

Excellent stay, clean room, comfortable bed and great shower! If you were any closer to the beach, you wouldn't be able to step outside without getting your feet wet. In the heart of everything with the Mono Café just a short walk up Mission Drive for the best coffee in the area.

We spent 4 nights here at the end of a 2-week California vacation. It's a very nice property, right on the beach, convenient parking and very nice rooms. My grandson had never seen the Pacific, and I wanted him to enjoy it fully. Unfortunately the Pacific itself is too cold to swim in, the beach was too cold to sit on with chilly breezes and everyone in sweatshirts. To top it off, the hotel is smack in the middle of a "surfing zone" which means no swimming. You'd have to walk down 1/4 mi to get away from the surfers. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, but not the beach
All this would have been just a shame if it were not for the fact that I paid over $2000 for 2 rooms for 4 nights, about 1/2 of what the whole 2-week vacation cost in lodging. So shame on me!

We had a GREAT but short stay here, we wished we could've stayed longer. Perfectly located on the beach and walking distance to many great popular spots. Rooms were clean, cozy and comfortable. We had the perfect room overlooking the beach. We arrived late night for check-in and the staff greeted us with a warm welcome and friendly personalities !! They even gave us coupons for restaurants near by. This is our new vacation spot !! Thanks
