“Fabulous Spa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

We booked a day spa experience at this fabulous resort. From the minute you drive up it is hard to believe your are in the middle of a very suburban setting of San Diego. It is a very tranquil beautiful setting minutes away from the hustle and bustle of San Diego. Very posh and plush.European architechture. The Spa is beautifully appointed with marble and travertine throughout. Very nicely decorated changing area and dressing area with all you would need . Nice spa cuisine and teas. The lounge area is beautiful with a firelplace and wonderul luxurious daybeds and chaises. The therapists were top notch. I had a stone massage and it was heaven. The jacuzzi is inside and very spacious. Both wet and dry saunas available. After our treatments we had lunch at the restaurant Amaya which overlooks the pristine golf course. The food was delicious, as well as the service. It is very pricey but worth the luxury. We strolled around the property and it is immaculately kept. Was surprised to stumble on the hotels own church. A must for spa connoissuers. We will be back!

Great property, kind of expensive but still worth a stay.

There is nothing quite like it I've ever seen: absolutely stunning.
I was there for a meeting/conference, which was ideal. But I want to go back with my wife.
This is truly an oasis of peace and quiet.

Stayed for just four nights during the summer... We could have stayed for ever! Cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. The rooms are excellent. Spacious, well furnished and extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are enormous, with walk in showers and huge baths. There are two pools, tennis courts and an amazing golf course, Tom Fazio designed. A divine spa as well.
The food was excellent and decent room service too. The hotel has a special restaurant in the grounds called Addison, in addition to the ones in the main building. Addison is certainly worth a visit during your stay. They have a seven course tasting menu with wine pairing as well as a soft drink pairing - wonderful fruit juices specially mixed for each of the different courses. The food was divine. We stayed in for hours.
The rooms were very reasonably priced. However, just one complaint, breakfasts were eye wateringly expensive. It was something ridiculous like $12 for a bread roll. I think one morning we were charged something absurd like $60 for a basket of bread, two coffees and two orange juices. In the event that a bed and breakfast deal is on offer, take it!

Room Tip: All the rooms are great. But if there's a bed and breakfast deal on offer, take it... A la cart...

One of the best resort hotels in the country. Some of the rooms are a long way from the lobby. Spa is very good but overpriced compared to comparable facilities.

Have stayed at many hotels & resorts and didn't have any expectations for this stay, but was totally blown away by the service at this hotel. This ranks up there with best staff i have ever seen at a hotel property, and ranks in my top 3. The room was nice, but not very large. I was on the first floor and had patio access to a large shared lawn. Bathroom had bathtub, shower, and separate toilet.
As i was there with a group we had several meals out on the front lawn, all of good quality. I also had an excellent Cobb Salad in the Amaya Restaurant on site, with some of the best lemonade i've ever tasted.
We had one dinner at Addison, their signature restaurant, which was delicious and coupled with great local wines. I would highly recommend a meal there if staying at the hotel. Afterwards, go downstairs to Club M for some music and drinks.

There's a great selection of on-site amenities including several pools, hiking trails, gym, horseriding, and a fun golf course. The golf course should get a better selection of left-handed rental clubs, as i was left with a mediocre set, with regular flex shafts and missing a putter (later brought to me on hole 5).

What stood out the most during this stay was the level of service. Staff are trained very well and very respectful and assist in all possible ways. I haven't seen this level of service at any hotel in the world i've stayed at in the past 10 years.

The only minor issues i had were:
- In my opinion, bathroom amenities do not meet the level of this hotel.
- Some issues with my TV.
- Lengthy walk from self-park lot.

Room Tip: The property is quite vast, so be prepared for a lengthy walk to your room.

I had the pleasure of visiting this hotel with my husband for a business function. The grounds were beautiful and the service was wonderful throughout our stay. Our room was a standard room and was a great size with a huge bathroom with two sinks! Everything was very comfortable and clean. My only small complaint on the room is that we had a ground floor room and the patio door did not lock as well as it should have. That said it was very safe at the resort so we were not too concerned.

I ate a number of meals at the hotel catered for my group which were all good but not great. I also did a massage at the spa. While the spa facility was fabulous I found the treatment to be very average for the price.

This hotel is definitely outside of my usual budget but I hope that I have a chance to come back and relax in luxury again someday!
