“Great place - would definitely recommend it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2009

Stayed at Homewood Suites Liberty Station for 3 nights, July 13-16, and loved it. We were traveling with teenagers who had just turned 16 & 18, so the two bedroom suite was perfect for us - two bedrooms, two bathrooms, sitting area, kitchen - and 3 flat screen televisions. There was enough room for all of us to be comfortable and also have our privacy. Very good value, great location, very clean, beautiful grounds, friendly staff, lots of (free) parking. Would definitely stay there again if we are in San Diego (which we hope to be!)

Spent a fabulous week in a 2 BR suite in July. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Grounds well kept. Plenty of outdoor seating and several outdoor fireplaces for cool nights. Located near an old naval base that is being rehabbed with plenty of shops and restaraunts. Also next to a beautiful new park right on the bay with lots of walking and bike paths, play areas for small children and soccer fields. Great breakfast served daily and light dinner every Mon-Thur with complimentary beer and wine, all included in the price of the room. A real money saver when traveling with a family. Transportation to and from airport. Also the Trolley comes right to the hotel for tour pick up. Would certainly stay there again!

We returned from six nights at the Homewood Suites and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and the dinners and breakfasts were suprisingly tasty. The room was clean with a view of the channel coming off the bay. We look forward to future stays at this hotel.

I spent four days here for some training. I arrived very late and the hotel shuttle was done for the night. They reimbursed me for the cab fare from the airport. The breakfast was great. The hotel store was convenient. I spent a lot of time in the business center with work. Watch out because they re-boot after an hour so don't forget to save your work. We worked in the evenings and the hotel breakfast area and the patio area with their fireplaces outside were comfortable. The complimentary coffee was very nice. I never got a chance to use the pool, but it looked clean and nice.

The hotel staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome. It was nice and open outside and made it nice to take a walk for a break.

The rooms were spacious and well equipped. I enjoyed having the kitchen, wish I had more time to have used it. The separate bedroom made it easy to spread out and relax. Large TV's, a comfy couch, and plenty of space as a whole.

Next time I am in San Diego I will definitely stay here.

We recently returned from a 4 night stay at this property. If you're like me and appreciate a clean facility, this is the place to stay. Upon check in we were given room 168, which unfortunately was a bottom floor room in the south building with a window that faced a wall. They front desk graciously gave us another room in the north building. We were in room 401, corner room with a large window overlooking the pool and the water, with another large window in the bedroom with a view of the fireplace seating area. Very nice. We loved the location and amenties offered as far as stores and restaurants within walking distance. Everything is new. Wonderful walking path. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The free breakfast was good, although I'm not a fan of the powdered eggs they used for the scrambled eggs. There's a Starbuck's within walking distance, along with a Von's and Trader Joe's to help stock the full size refridgerator in the room. Lovely property, great location. The other reviews pretty well sum up all the benefits of staying at this property. Let's hope they don't raise the prices once everyone finds out about this hotel!

While i've certainly stayed at fancier and more luxurious hotels, i feel like this is the first hotel I've ever stayed at, that's really understood what it means to be hospitable. All employees that i've encountered during my two week stay were warm, welcoming and made me feel at home (especially gary, rachel and duncan). They're genuinely happy to help you and are just super laid back, friendly, and nice. While they really made the hotel special, the warm breakfasts every morning, the week night dinners and the free coffee throughout the day were like the icing on the cake. The rooms are just the right size and very clean, and after a week into our stay, the hotel left little gift bags on our door with slippers in them and a thank you note. I love that attention to detail. Also, in case you're as lazy as i am, i never once had to do dishes..... my housekeeper loaded and ran the dishwasher whenever necessary. Just make sure you leave your housekeeper a nice tip when you leave. They probably work the hardest out of anyone.
Bottom line is i loved staying at the homewood suites at liberty station. I was there for business, but after staying at this hotel it felt like a vacation. We were so spoiled that i honestly didn't want to leave.

We have just come back from 2 weeks in California of which 6 nights we spent in this hotel and what a great place to stay!

A lovely hotel in a very attractive location we were really impressed with everything that this hotel has to offer. The rooms are fantastic and more like small apartments than hotel rooms. Ours was a one bedroom suite and along with the kitchen appliances and kitchen equipment, there was a flat screen TV in the sitting area and also in the bedroom, a very comfortable king-size bed and bathroom with shower and bath. The room also had doors that lead to a small balcony and my one suggestion would be that chairs are supplied to enable you to sit out, as although we had a smoking room for my partner, he still preferred to smoke here rather than in the room itself.

Breakfast was excellent, although my advice would be to get there before 9.00am as that’s when the main crowd arrive and (especially at weekends) there can be queues, particularly at the waffle making machines. Other options included scrambled egg, home fries, bacon and/or sausage patties, toast, bagels, muffins, cereals, juice, yoghurt, fruit etc. Just about anything you could want really. The Homewood also serves early evening meals Monday – Thursday and we enjoyed a few of these including hot dogs and macaroni bolognaise, during these meals they also provide salad plus wine and beer, a good option for families with ever hungry children!

The property is divided into north and south buildings with an area between that had barbeques to use plus seating areas around gas fires. Each building has a fitness room, more geared up for people doing CV work rather than a weights routine, and there is also a basketball court.

The pool area is very nice, although at the beginning of our stay the water was very cold, this appeared to have been rectified later in the week, and the sun beds the most comfortable I have ever used with a lovely thick mattress. Pool towels are also available and can be picked up by the pool.

There are places to eat within a few minutes walk, the ones we tried were a very good Thai restaurant where we had dinner one evening, a Greek café where we had a lunch, gyros with fries and a drink, which was good, and Oggi’s where we ate once and went most nights for drinks at the bar. Other places include a Sushi restaurant that looked very popular, a Mexican Café plus Subway and Starbucks. There are also places to eat about 10 mins walk away where you can also find a Vons supermarket and a Trader Joes. I have to mention the staff in Oggi’s who were so friendly and welcoming and made it a pleasure to visit, a special thank you to Finlay, Amy, Matt and Chris. Just one thing to mention if you do stay at this hotel and intend having a few night out in the Gaslamp District cab fares can be quite steep and expect to pay $15 each way without tips.

All in all we had a fantastic time in California and a wonderful stay in the Homewood Suites and San Diego
