We LOVE staying at this hotel. It is our absolute favorite in the San Diego area. The hotel staff is simply amazing. Every one of them take pride in their job and in the property they work for. We were always greeted with a smile. The staff really makes sure you feel welcome. There was one evening that I needed a safety pin and instead of having to purchase an entire package one of the staff members gave me a sewing kit that contained one so that I wouldn't have to purchase one from the hotel's Suite Shop. Now THAT's going the extra mile!
We ate breakfast at the hotel each morning, but opted to take it to our room to enjoy alone. This hotel has a large eating area, and patio area. It is very busy during meal times. This hotel also offers dinners Monday through Thursday evenings. We didn't partake, but the meals looked satisfactory to us.
This property has a heated pool (85*) and a hot tub. The public patio area includes two fireplace areas that have comfy chairs.
There is a walking/running/biking trail behind the hotel that is very nice for morning and early evening walks. It is lit up so you could walk it in the evenings. The trail follows along the bay edge. It is very nice. Be sure to check out the old Naval Training Center buildings that are being renovated for retail space. There is a nice Naval Museum along the trail too.
We stayed in the studio suite, which is perfect for two. If you have small children it would probably be enough room for 4. There is a pull-out couch in the living area. The kitchen is perfect size for cooking small meals. It has all of the utensils, stove top, toaster, microwave and dishwasher. Dish soap and dishwashing liquid and kitchen towels are supplied. There is not an oven. There is a work desk and a separate dining table with 2 chairs. The beds at this location are THE MOST comfortable I have ever slept on.
I am a self-proclaimed Hotel Snob. This is one of the few hotels that I feel comfortable walking barefoot in the room. The carpets are always clean, the bedding and towels are fresh.
The room we stayed shared a wall with the elevator. We were NOT able to hear any noises while the elevator was in use. It is located right next to the airport. We love the sound of jets. With that said, you will hear them, but they normally stop landing around 10:00pm.
It is located no more than 10 minutes from downtown San Diego, 5 minutes from the airport.
Simply put...We LOVE this hotel.
