This is a lovely boutique hotel right on the beach and the perfect place for a get away weekend from Los Angeles. I stayed here over the Columbus Day weekend for a little R & R and a chance to unwind by the beach. I can't recommend this hotel enough!

I give the staff high marks on customer service. Everyone was super friendly and helpful - valet, front desk, housekeeping, waiters. I agreed with the other reviewer, Sabastian was great to us. We looked pretty lost trying looking at our CA map for Balboa Park and he stepped right in, pulled out a cheat sheet for getting to local attractions from the hotel, highlighted the hotel numbers and asked us to call if we needed anything. We didn't even ask, he stepped right in just handled it (luvthat!).

This hotel is in a great location for recreational activities. There's a very nice bike path all along the beach so bring a bike or rent one across the street for $20. They have a bike rack in the garage. In the evening throw on a sweater and go sit outside by the gas fire pit on the patio overlooking the ocean. You can't beat the sound of the ocean waves, salty air, starry sky, and a drink from the bar downtairs. The rooms are decorated in a clean modern design and i loved the crisp white linens they change every day. The room was also equipped with an xbox but I was too busy unwinding i never bothered to ask for some game time. I'll be back soon for another three day weekend!

This is a beautiful, boutique hotel. We stayed 2 nights in the Oceanside Surfpad room - we left the door open all the time to hear the surf crashing....

The room is very comfortable, modern and airy feeling. The bed was a SUPER comfortable Tempurpedic mattress. The only thing I find missing and desperately wanting was an in-room coffee pot so I could linger in bed and hang out on the deck in the morning.

The restaurant Jordan was excellent although a little expensive.

If you like living like a local - I would recommend having a beer at the 710 Beach Club around the corner and for another tip go to Cass St. Bar and Grill for beers and their grilled fresh fish plates....

My partner and stayed for four nights last year, and decided to come back this year. My review from last year can be found lower.

After one year, what has happened ?

I had carefully booked on the internet, and monitored the rates :business being apparently slow, packages showed up, significantly reducing the price tag. This is an expensive property. Typically, you pay ($$$) for the situation which cannot be beat. I am convinced this is the more stylish, luxurious ocean front property in San Diego. It is very modern and sleek. The upkeep is very good, we stumbled on a daily basis on peaopl scrubbling the hand rails, mopping the floors, doing some repair. There is nothing to fear from that standpoint.
I had booked the same category, Surf pad, and requested a type of room which I got.

BETTER THAN LAST YEAR :
The deck has improved. More seating opportunities, more inviting, more efficient service (beverage).

NOT AS GOOD AS LAST YEAR :
Breakfast : for some stupid reason, breakfats is only available in-room. The restaurant only starts for lunch. You find yourself waiting for up to 30 minutes (hey, 2 orders ahead of you take time !). Seating with a plate and a mug on your knee is really substandard.
Frontdesk : my reservation was retrieved. But the perks included in my Sun Diego package, were mixed, and I had to ask specifically over 2 days. Towels not delivered, vouchers mixed-up, ...
Concierge is now a joke. Whereas last year a great girl came up with brilliant recommendations (George's at the Cove, ...), and then directions, my request for the "best steak in town" was met with puzzled looks, and the excuse that she was not a meat eater herself, which is not something I care about. After 10 minutes of rummaging feverishly in drawers, it took two people to give me a food magazine, and a recommendation for Ruth Chris'. By the way, we ended in La Jolla Village, at Donovan's (fantastic steak), on a recommendation of a Pottery Barn staff.

Ultimately, I was not convinced of the package value. Main interest is the lower room rate. Included breakfast (Good morning Sunshine) consisted in orange juice and disgusting granola with sour yogurt. This is ridiculous : hot beverage was etra, as was any american food.

Would I return. I sure hope i will. This is no Hotel Bel-Air, but it is also great.

Tower23 is a very Clean and Modern Boutique Hotel in Pacific Beach. It definitely has the South Beach feel to it, in vibe and appearance. The rooms are very clean and simple with very comfortable beds. My wife and I did not want to get up in the morning. It has private balconies that have white curtains that blow in the ocean breeze. The overall experience was very nice.

I was recently married at Tower 23. It was an unforgettable event. The service was impeccable. The food at JRDN was out of this world. The view from our room was breathtaking. We had many guests from out of town that stayed at the hotel as did we. At every single turn we were greeted by professional staff that went above and beyond all of my expectations to help us accomplish everything we needed. I live in San Diego and really could have had my wedding at any number of beautiful locations but I am so happy we decided to have it at Tower 23. I would highly recommend this hotel and their restaurant, JRDN, to anyone that wants a sophisticated, relaxing vacation, or just a dinner you will not soon forget.
