Great place to visit... Plus You could make a day out of this and do 3 to 4 activities in one day!! You will pass the Fort Rosecrans Cemetery on your way up... In the middle part of the cemetery on your left going up... you will see some very old grave stones from the 1800's plus just seeing this cemetery is in itself is an amazing and sad sight to see. As you keep going up you will enter the Cabrillo National Park "Monument" There you will find the Cabrillo Monument with an interactive Visitor center and find amazing views of SD and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse... But.... There are two lighthouses... one on top by the monument... the second one, as you head back out just before the gate. Turn left or West and go down a winding road with great views of the Ocean for less then a mile you will see the Second lighthouse which is near the Tide Pools.... If you go to the Tide pools, If the tides are low find a Sea Anemones "VERY Gentle" brush your finger around a sea anemone and watch it close!! The tentacle's feel kind of sticky but Kids and adults love it if you have never experienced it... When you are leaving the park go for a late lunch or early dinner to one of the best Hamburger places in SD... Since you will be Wet and dressed casual drop by Hodad's.. 5010 Newport Ave.. 92107.. The original Hodads is in Ocean Beach which is on your way out.. OB is a small Beach Community with a great pier... small antique shops... Very interesting locals... Enjoy!! If you do not have a GPS when you leave the Monument head North you will be on Catalina Blvd... Keep going until you hit either Point Loma Blvd or Narraganset and go West or Left you will dead end into the ocean and Ocean Beach... Easy to find!!
