Upon checking in, the receptionist immediately checked to see if he could provide us with a free upgrade for our one week stay. Since it was Easter weekend, no upgrades were available the first night, but we were able to move to a larger room for the rest of the week. I was quite impressed, as I did not even ask about a free upgrade. The rooms were spacious and new, and the kitchenettes are great for families. We did not have any issues with noise. The pool was a little chilly outside, but the hot tub was perfect. We took advantage of the breakfasts every morning, and it saved us money and got us off to a great start. The breakfasts consisted of two choices of eggs, two choices of meat or potato, several breads, some fruit, and yogurt. We were only able to take advantage of the evening meals a couple of times, as we tended to stay out too late. The meals we did have were good for a family. The staff at the meals were always very friendly. The location of the hotel makes it easy to drive down to San Diego in a few minutes. Torrey Pines State Park is just a short drive away, which makes for a great place to watch the sunset or let the kids play on the beach. There are also plenty of restaurants and groceries nearby.
