Friendly staff! Very comfortable beds and a great location! We could see the ball field at PETCO from our room! Amazing views from the rooftop bar Altitude here too! Within walking distance of the harbor, shopping, pubs and restaurants!

We have just come back from an amazing Staycation for three nights at this beautiful, unique hotel, made all the more special by the staff. The hotel is very nice and the staff superb.

As we approached the hotel the first thing we noticed was the exceptional valet crew. Every time we used our car at least two of them approached to open my and my wife’s door. They were friendly and helpful with directions and advice and always smiling.

At check-in they have over-flowing bowls of vintage candy and taffy to tempt you and to make you feel more at home. The reception people were friendly and quickly checked us in and on our way to the room.

The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable with nice pillows and comforter. The TV was new, flat and large, and the amenities were nice..

The convenience of the location is perfect, because you are close enough (2 small blocks to the main drag) and far enough to not hear unwanted noise late at night. Interesting enough, the hotel offers the best lounge for my money in San Diego, Altitude. It has a killer view of the downtown and the stadium (where we watched the last few innings of a game one night). For sunset it is beautiful, and later at night it is a busy happening place.

Normally we don’t eat in hotel restaurants but one evening we were tired and decided to have dinner at Soleil @k the in house restaurant. I would say that it compares very favorably with most restaurants downtown and the service and food were great.

While there I used the gym daily which was big enough that there were plenty of cardio machines and had enough equipment to do a full body workout with stretching. The gym was also clean (my biggest pet peeve at most hotels).

There were lots of little details at this hotel like complimentary bottled water in the rooms, Starbucks coffee in room, candy and cookies on your pillow. While there are lots of amenities at this hotel, the best amenity is the staff. Everyone seemed happy to be working and doing their job from the maids to the maintenance people. Thanks San Diego Marriot Gaslamp for making our Staycation feel like a great vacation!

Room Tip: Go for a ballpark view if its during season

This is a very good Marriott that is in an excellent location. It's extremely well situated to Petco Park and the Gaslamp district shops and restaurants. It's walking distance to many of the other SD sights and the convention center. The room is a standard Marriott room, but it's well appointed and includes a refrigerator. There is an excellent rooftop bar, a good workout area and other restaurants. I would highly recommend staying here again.

Room Tip: I had a room with a water view - it also allowed a view of Petco Park.

As a first time visitor to San Diego I positively fell in love with the city and it all started at the Marriott Gaslamp. This hotel has so much to offer starting with its superb location in the Gaslamp quarter, a mere block from the trolley station and a further block to the convention centre.
The hotel itself is every bit deserving of its esteemed location. It has a feel of a place that's never too busy making it as suited for a work trip as a relaxing holiday. The hotel is clean, well run and offers everything a modern hotel should.
A true highlight of the hotel is the fantastic rooftop bar, providing a perfect setting to watch an afternoon roll into the evening or a great spot for a quiet drink at the end of the night.
My next visit to San Diego will have me straight back to the Marriott Gaslamp.

I found this hotel to be a clean, comfortable place right near the Petco field and within blocks of the San Diego convention center. Really right in the Gaslamp district steps from all the eateries. Great location and affordable hotel. They have a great club on the 22nd floor for happy hour and the hotel's restaurant is also very good for eating in or in room dining.

Room Tip: Top floors have a water view.

The hotel is centrally located to everything in the Gaslamp District. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the staff is adequate. If you plan to catch a Padres game, this is by far the best hotel. You walk labout a 100 yards to the gates entrance. Many reviews mentioned parking rates. It is an issue. I was told by valet that the public parking in front of the hotel was at least $25/day. The valet at the hotel is $40/day. I don't like being misinformed. The rate for parking across the street was a max of $15/day. I bought this issue to the front desk and they adjusted my rate. Also, they informed me that the valet service is operated by the same company who manages the parking across the street. Save you money Do Not Use Valet Parking

My husband and I wanted a getaway weekend, decided to stay at the Marriott Gaslamp Quarter, rooms are a little small, bathrooms could use a little more counter space, but the location and service are excellent and outweigh the lack of space. The hotel is beautiful, great architecture. Had breakfast in hotel Saturday morning, great service and good food. We are planning a return trip!
