“Farewell, Mandarin House...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

So sad to have this landmark in Hillcrest/Midtown being lost to more condos. Martin and the staff at MH have been so gracious to us over the 2 decades we have been going there, we will truly be at a loss. Mandarin House had the best ambience for groups, great food, great service, and great prices. Not to mention flaming drinks. We are losing one of the best this Thursday. Looking forward to seeing Martin and team rise up like the Phoenix to start fresh at a new location.

“Great food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Have eaten at this restaurant for many years, food and service is always great, call ahead for take-out which only takes about 15 minutes. Cashew Chicken is the best!

“Worst Meal of the Week”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012 via mobile

In San Diego for a conference and decided to order in. Called Mandarin House and placed an order. Delivery time was great! Super fast. The food however was the worst oriental food I have ever had. The fired rice was like mush. The Mongolian beef same texture. Live and learn. Should have stuck with the Fox Sports Grill in the Hotel.

“Nice pot of tea”

We really enjoy visiting the Mandarin House each time we visit San Diego. We order the special for two. We like sitting in the half moon booth.

“Favourite Chinese Food EVER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Whenever we visit family in San Diego The Mandarin House is always on our list of places to eat. We order our favourites which are: Walnut Shrimp (lightly battered in a cream sauce) my favourite, my sister-in-laws favourite Pungent Shrimp (yes, I know 2 Shrimp Dishes), my brother-in-laws favourite Wor Wonton Soup (which has everything in it!), my husband's favourite Szechuan Green Beans and of course The Kung Pao Chicken and Upside Down Noodles, Yumm! Last but not least, our daughter and son-in-laws favourite The Volcano Drinks, they're flaming good, no really, they are 'flaming'! Make sure to ask for the long straws! Just put on the Martin Denny Music and you'll be transported back in time to a 60's Tiki Lounge. Make sure to say hi to Martin, the Manager, who is always so welcoming.
