Description: For the past thirteen years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite-grilled baby back ribs, beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness, and friendly service. "We thrive on providing each guest with the 'Phil's Experience', which basically comes down to organized chaos," laughs owner Phil Pace. "The biggest reason behind our success is our loyal customers who have supported us and waited in line for a taste of BBQ for the past fifteen years. "Since opening its doors in San Diego in 1998, Phil's BBQ has served over one million pounds of BBQ sauce (enough to fill Shamu's tank).

“Get the riblets!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Best BBQ in San diego. The riblits are all the flavor without the work or mess. Family friendly, but be prepared to wait for at least 20 minutes (sometimes up to an hour) But you can order and eat in the bar without the wait (if there are seats)

“I tried it, it was okay, I'm good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I've lived out here for a year and a half and always heard people talking about this place. I decided to go to check out what the buzz was about. I have to say it was just okay. Having visited places like Texas and other famous BBQ type places, this just ranked 'OK'.

“its not smoked, but the sauce is great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I am not sure what the buzz is about. The sauce is great. The meat is tender and cooked very well. However, I prefer smoked bbq for that deep flavor. The service was nice. The waits can get very long.

“Legit BBQ in SD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

Yes, it does exist. Phil's is the best BBQ in town. The tri tip is awesome, as are the ribs and chicken. The tangy sauce has a little bit of spice to it that is really good. Don't pass up the onion rings, they are killer.

“Best BBQ in San Diego”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

I've been a fan since their days in a little house on Goldfinch, with the neighbors complaining about the smoke. The taste hasn't changed but the new restaurant is a big improvement. Don't miss Phil's!
