I heard about The Mission from so many people that I'm surprised it's taken me so long to try it. I finally went over the weekend and was surprised at how small the inside is. No wonder there are always long lines!
Anyway, after perusing the menu, I settled for the blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon for an extra $2.50. First of all, the eggs and bacon aren't worth $2.50. The portion is tiny! However, the pancakes were tasty - really fluffy and tasted homemade.
I also tried the roast beef hash and eggs. The hash was great - good portion size, the beef was cooked well and tender, there were burnt pieces which were awesome, and it also came with toast.
The server we had was so friendly and happy. She came by several times to make sure everything was good. We got refills of coffee and water throughout the meal so we were completely satisfied but not overwhelmed with attention.
I give 4 stars because I feel like The Mission is overrated. It's not the best breakfast/brunch spot in SD, but it's pretty good and decently priced for the quality.
