“Excellent Sunday Brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013 via mobile

The Grant Grill has an amazing Sunday Brunch. The service is top notch, and the staff is increadible. Our server Auggie made sure we always had a full coffee cup and fresh mimmosa and the manager Alberto made us feel like family and offered great suggestions for the amazing waffle bar. The food was wonderful- they had unique waffles and toppings which made for an entertaining meal. This brunch is a great value and a must do in San Diego.

“Everything was perfect ~ food, ambiance, service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Located within the US Grant Hotel the Grant Grill feels like a private retreat in its location somewhat hidden behind the art deco bar / lounge area. Our starters ranged from crab risotto, to beat salad, and starters we ate included atlantic salmon, pork cheeks and duck. Desserts included a tahitian sponge cake, a modern take on smores and a berry tart. With a glass of champage, two glasses of wine each and coffee, the price was a reasonable $100 per head plus tip. The food was very well prepared and presented - the starters were the right size - not leaving us too full too quickly. Our server, Natalie, was one of the best I've ever had - there when you wanted her, polite and helpful (very knowledgeable of the menu specifics). The wine list is quite extensive and there is a small selection of half bottles (which is a nice touch many US restaurants don't do). If you are looking for a great dining experience just because, or need a place to celebrate ... this is definitely the place to do it in San Diego.

“caring waitstaff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

My husband and I brought my 87 year old mother and her college roommate.
there is a special Manhattan with barrel aged liquor available only at the Grill.
My husband said best maraschino cherry ever!
The old roomies loved every aspect of their meals- terrific olive bread and fig bread, enormous sandwich with about 1/4 lb of turkey- huge chicken caesar -they were kind enough to store half of Margaret's turkey club in their fridge til we came back from the show and Margaret had it for dinner!
I had the spa breakfast which was an incredible poufy meringue like egg white omelet, whole grain toast and grapefruit juice. so tasty and filling no room for dessert.

Hot tip: If you're going to the Spreckels theatre across the street, park with the valet at the hotel, enjoy a leisurely meal, then walk the 1.5 blocks to the theatre. when you get out no crowd to get out of the parking garage, relax and let the valet do it!

“Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

It was almost dinner time so we decided to head over to The Grant Grill before making our way back home to OC.

The décor is masculine with a heavy historic influence. The menu features seasonal, California cuisine created using only the freshest locally harvested ingredients, prime meats and sustainable seafood. For starters we choose the Hamachi, marinated with Citrus, Fennel, Horseradish and White Soy and the Dungeness Crab Risotto with Snap Peas, Capers, Toasted Pine Nuts and Crème Fraiche. For our entrees we select the Scallops with Charred Tomatoes, Olives, Pancetta and Polenta and the Omaha Natural Angus Tenderloin served with Crispy Yukon Potatoes, Bloomsdale Spinach, Nutmeg and Parsley Root.

Everything we had was good and the service was good.
