“Best burgers in the county. Great variety of sandwiches and comfort food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

Massive menu, great burgers (excellent quality beef and then cooked properly), unusual and tasty sandwiches, comfort food entrees (fish and chips, meat loaf, etc). Prices are VERY reasonable, especially for the quality of the ingredients. It's in Hillcrest.

“Good Eats in Hillcrest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

I've been coming to the Crest Cafe since the early eighties. I've been going more often recently because my kids and husband have discovered it so it's become a family favorite. The food is excellent, the service is friendly and the menu is varied and reasonably priced. However, beware that this San Diego landmark, frequented by both gays and straights, can get very busy on weekend mornings. That being said, we usually go there on the weekends for brunch. If you go closer to lunch time it will be less crowded. We've had the regular french toast, the orange marmalade french toast, Midwestern Madness (pancakes topped with two eggs), the Tuscan benedict and the turkey club. All were excellent! Parking in Hillcrest can also be an issue but don't let that deter you - it's worth it.

“The Best Breakfast We Had During Our Visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

On August 23, 2012, we had breakfast at the Crest Café. So glad that we did! Upon arrival, we were seated right away and given menus and coffee.

My wife ordered Eggs Benedict that came with some fruit. That was an understatement when the meal arrived. It was a GREAT fruit plate prepared upon ordering. Many restaurants have the fruit precut and aging. But the Crest Café does it the correct way–FRESH!

I ordered a Swiss cheese/bacon omelet with multi grain toast. It was great looking and tasting as it was cooked using butter–just like we do it as home. We were so glad that we read some reviews and decided to try it. Upon our next visit to San Diego, we will dine here again!

“25-year customers - even better today!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

My wife and I found this great cafe on our honeymoon 25 years ago and have been coming back ever since. The food is incredible and the staff is always friendly - we always feel welcome. Get a table by the windows and people-watch (and dog watch). The Cafe Eggs are a winner and a new favorite is the angus-hash - you can't go wrong!! Be careful on the weekends as neighborhood events can make parking more of a problem, but don't let that keep you away!
