“Good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

All of my stars are for the taste of the food. The ambiance and chow line style ordering leaves a little to be desired but just get take-out.

“Great Fresh Mexican!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

We went here after shopping in Seaport Village and paying $24 to park the car. I was following Guy Fieri's lead from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Needless to say the food at El Indio was a great bargain compared to the parking at Seaport. We loved the homemade chips, salsa and tortillas used to make our dishes. We paid $12 bucks for a mini, shredded beef burrito combo and 1 large burrito. The line was just outside the door but we did not have to wait more than 15 minutes, and we got our food fast. The restaurant is counter service but the line moved fast. There were plenty of tables inside but we chose to eat outside across the street where they had covered tables set-up. This is not a sit down, relax and enjoy type restaurant. But, rather a local, authentic fast food place to grab a quick bite. The food is just as good as what you get in Old Town.

“A Must Stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Our last stop in San Diego was luch at El Indio. My wife is originally from San Dieago and this is a must stop when we visit. El Indio has been around since the 40's and the the menu is the best. Always a very busy place so plan on standing in line to place your order. It's worth the wait. The resaurant is very clean and the satff is very friendly. They have free parking, but it fills up fast.

“Tastes like abuelita's cooking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

Everytime we are in San Diego, we stop by El Indio. My husband compares all Mexican cooking like his moms, and El Indio never disappoints. From breakfast, chorizo & eggs, to huevos rancheros, all taste great. Taquitos, enchiladas, burritos, tamales, all are homemade and delicious. Easy freeway access, parking lot or street parking available. Always nice to see the owner either giving chips away, or, stopping by to see how our meal was. Always busy but the lines go by pretty fast. Show your military I'D for a discount.

“FAIR MEXICAN FOOD”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

We visited El Indio after seeing it on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. I was disappointed with the food after such a great build up. Their tortillas, made in the restaurant, were very heavy and somewhat greasy. The food lacked any kind of kick and was bland.
