“Five star stay in San Diego”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

If you are looking for incredible and relaxing accommodations and service that are above any hotel, than look no further and reserve your vacation now with Dockside Yacht Lodging. The peacefulness of water and the conveniences on the yacht made our six night business trip an absolutely restful experience as if we were on a vacation. The owner Chalium is extremely service oriented to make your stay a delight...and we want to return again. We highly recommend this company for both short or long term overnights.

Room Tip: The owner of the yacht was helpful in our decision as to which boat would best accommodate our needs...

We recently spent four nights on the Pura Vida and had a great time. It was so peaceful and relaxing, we'd have loved to have stayed longer. We spent as much time as possible on deck taking in the sights and sounds of the marina but there was plenty of living space down below and the bed in the master cabin was amazingly comfortable. It was great to have use of the hotel facilities though we didn't use them as much as we'd expected as it was hard to drag ourselves away from the boat. Having said that, having never been to San Diego before we did spend some time exploring the area and were very glad to have hired a car as it gave us the opportunity to see much more than we would otherwise have done. Highlights of our visit (apart from the wonderful accommodation) were trips to USS Midway and whale-watching with Sail SanDiego. We also loved the views from the Cabrillo National Monument at Point Loma.

Chaluim deserves to do really well with this venture. It is a great idea and extremely well managed. We would love to return sometime.

Better than any hotel! Why look at the water when you can be on the water in first class accommodations with every amenity including ROOM SERVICE! The owner Chalium is incredibly hospitable - This is a truly unique experience you will always remember. Don't even think twice about this and book now before this really gets discovered.

If you are looking for something unconventional in lodging in San Diego, Dockside Yachts is it. (It is worth noting to anyone who has stayed in other Bed and Breakfast lodging, this is not your typical B&B. That's the appeal.) My wife and I are certainly landlubbers and have stayed at a range of hotels and B&B's on other trips, so the opportunity to stay on a sailboat while we visited in San Diego appealed to both of us. We stayed on the Narnie O'Shea, a 47' sailboat. Chal the owner takes good care of his boats and sees that everything is clean and well-maintained. We spent three nights and there was plenty of storage for all of our things, but these are boats still so don't expect the spaciousness of a hotel room. The Narnie O'Shea was cozy with a lot of nice wood and built-in's. It gave us a real appreciation for how much you can put into a small space.

It's also nice that Dockside Yachts has an arrangement with the Best Western Island Palms to use their marina restrooms, showers, laundry, and room service. It was nice to have the option of a larger bathroom just up the dock.

I need to pay special compliments to the Best Western Island Palms and Sail San Diego. Chal had recommended Sail San Diego as a great choice if we were interested in a harbor sail or whale watching. My wife and I missed making a reservation for whale watching (Our mistake - you cannot book the same day you want to go, only in advance, but it's not obvious on their reservations page), but the front desk folks at the Best Western made a call for us and Sail San Diego actually agreed to take us whale watching on last minute notice. Just the two of us. At a time arranged to fit our schedule. That was tremendous. Kudos to both Best Western Island Palms and Sail San Diego.

If you like boats and seabirds and the whole marina thing, this is for you. If you just want a change from the normal big hotel scene, also for you.
Our family of four got a lot out of this experience. Boat (the bigger one) beautifully fitted out, excellent Tempur beds, and a perfect little protected sun trap on the back deck for an afternoon drink. Lovely. And Chalium goes the extra mile in helping you out, so all in all, very worth doing.

My husband and I just returned from our four night stay on the Narnie O'Shea. We booked the rest of the family really close by in the Best Western at the Shelter Island Marina, this made for an awesome family trip. We loved the accommodations and the bed was extremely comfortable. There was enough room to have the family aboard for happy hours and sunset viewing. Cal is just a phone call away and will make sure everything is to your satisfaction. There are two little bedrooms that were just the perfect size for our little grandkids to spend one night on the boat with us. We also booked a harbor cruise with Sail San Diego and received a discount by mentioning that we were staying on the Narnie O'Shea. In the future we hope to return with some friends and stay aboard the other available yacht, Pura Vita.

Room Tip: Narnie O'Shea is small and compact. Pura Vita is much larger and more like a house.

We stayed for 7 nights on the Pura Vida and found it the most relaxing way to enjoy a place to stay anywhere. My wife and I had a 47 foot yacht to ourselves, no one knocking on door saying housekeeping, full kitchen, coffee, drinks, food on our own deck, fantastic views, come and go as we pleased. Chaluim was always handy if needed anything or had any questions, but left us to enjoy the yacht to its fullest. This was a 50th B'day gift for me as I have always wanted to stay on a yacht in a harbor in San Diego and thanks to Chaluim and his Dockside Yacht Lodging, a dream came true. We would recommend this highly, with a side note that a car would be very handy as we had to work out bus/trolley schedules and though we do not mind walking, lost a minimum 45 min. a day just getting to the nearest bus stop to make connections. There seemed to be lots of parking around. Also the price per night was more value than hotels that cost the same with a lot less enjoyment.
