“Kate does it again...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Kate does it again...

Bo-beau in Ocean Beach is very good, but chef Kate's newest star, 100 Wines is great! Cauliflower? Yes, and it was seared to perfection just for starters. Don't forget the Mediterranean olives. Roasted chicken with polenta...
You can only imagine how good dessert will be...

Ask for Texas Richard the server. He's knows his stuff and is very attentive.Tell him Lance sent you.
:-}
P. S. Don't forget the very well priced wines...

“Not sure what I think”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

My wife and I found this place while staying at the Balboa Park Inn (walkable- just) and, after all the greasy, tasteless, so-called Mexican food we had met before, thought we had died and gone to heaven. It has a relatively small, reasonably-priced menu and most of what was on offer was real food. I think there was just one burger. We were so pleased with our first visit (duck, that day's special, for my wife and a cheeseless pizza for me, both delicious, with a nice Pinot Noir and impeccable service) that we returned for our last night in town and pushed the boat out a bit. The wine was again excellent, the entrees and service were acceptable, though well short of the standard of our previous visit but the sweet (a shared sampler) was poor. In particular, a so-called chocolate soufflé would easily have served as a cannon ball. Thinking we had been given the wrong item we checked with our server, who seemed totally unaware of what a soufflé should be and was totally unapologetic. 100 Wines appears to be the best place in its immediate area and clearly can be good so cannot be discounted but order with care, perhaps quizzing your server in some detail.

“Hillcrest plus”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

We have eaten at several of the Cohn Family restaurants. This one is a recent addition. No reservations accepted. The food was quite good- small portions, a plus for us. The sweetbreads were wonderful. Crab cakes quite good. The service was faulty and that caused my downgrade from a 5. There was lack of coordination with courses. Some too quick being served before the previous course was finished and other courses were greatly delayed. We need to try it again to see if it will come up to the standards set by the other Cohn restaurants.

“Hillcrest's Newest Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Get here fast and enjoy this awesome new restaurant before the waiting lists start! Amazing food and service; flavorful, interesting, delicious and fun. We enjoyed 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $80. This place will not stay a secret for long. One of my new favorites.

“Great Vibe here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Just a fun restaurant with great food and of course a super wine selection. Love that they make it easy. Had the free form ravioli in brown sage butter sauce and thought I could now die happy and of course the brussel sprouts - amazing.
