We were one of the first ever people to stay in this hostel and the owners and all of the workers were some of the nicest people we've ever met! The place was beautiful, colourful and clean. They shared their alcohol and mixers with us, they fed us bacon and eggs as a midnight snack and pancakes were freshly cooked for us for breakfast! And all included in the price! It was the best hostel I've ever stayed in!

Planned on staying for two nights but liked it so much we stayed for four. Really friendly atmosphere, great food and amazing value for money. Went on their snorkling day trip which was really fun and well organised. Would definitely recommend it to any travellers.

This was the 3rd hostel I stayed at during my 3 week visit in San Diego. This is a smaller hostel and the friendliest. A perfect combination of a good place to relax and meet new people without being too crazy. The hostel is located in Little Italy and walking distance to the; Gaslamp Quarter, East Village, Downtown, Balboa Park, the marina area(Midway).
Breakfast and dinner is included in the $25 per night so you can't beat the value. They also recently opened an overflow hostel/student housing in the Hillcrest area that offers longer term accommodation.

Stayed in a 6-bed dorm room here recently for $25/night which included free pancake breakfast each morning, free hearty dinner each night, and free (reliable) wifi, among other things. That's tough to beat!

Added bonus: this was one the best hotels I've stayed at in the US or abroad. Bathrooms were clean, modern, and in working order, not always a given in a hostel. Staff were fantastic! You can tell they actually care about this place. You'll get to know them on a first name basis. (At some hostels, staff are aloof and apathetic. Not here!). Met lots of friendly travelers from all over the world.

I was a little worried about the location being too far from the center of San Diego, but this isn't really the case. It's pretty easy to walk from here to just about anywhere in downtown San Diego within 20 min or less. The hostel also has a van and offers free/cheap rides to just about anywhere you'd need to go. Some transit lines nearby. There are good restaurants and corner stores within 5 min walking. Most importantly, the area is safe. Didn't feel uncomfortable walking around alone even in the dead of night.

Only potential downside: this is a hostel, so you have to expect some amount of noise in the evening. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Generally though I would say that staff make sure that any loud partying/socializing in the common areas is winding down by 11pm or so.

If I am ever in San Diego again, I will definitely return.

I have been traveling America for two months now and coming to the end of my trip. Through all the hostels I have stayed in across the US, the international travelers house was without question the best accommodation. The hostel offered everything we wanted and more! The hosts couldn't have been more helpful and great fun to be around, offering all sorts of activities to do for their guests, we even went out on James and Bobby's boat for the day. I would recommend this hostel to anyone traveling to San Diego and the hostel will suit all ages!
