“Great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

My husband and I visited the Omni this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary/birthday weekend. The hotel is clean and nicely decorated although you can tell that they cater to business clients. The decor is modern and business-like which was fine for us. The best part of this hotel is the amazing service. Check in was prompt and friendly. They sent us a bottle of champagne with a dessert for my birthday after we checked in. We loved the morning beverage service that was provided with the newspaper every morning. When we had a slight discrepancy about the parking on the bill the nice woman at the front desk was able to take care of it quickly. We also loved that it was close enough to walk to the gaslamp district and that we didn't have to get our car out of the garage all weekend. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone I know who is planning a trip to SD.

This hotel is located in the San Diego Gas lamp area. It is very convenient if you are at the San Diego Convention Center or are going to a San Diego Padres Baseball Game. It is also very convenient if you are doing business downtown or wish to enjoy the very lively evening atmosphere of the Gas Lamp area with many dining and entertainment options. It is also close to San Diego Bay and Seaport Village. The staff is nice and the rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable. Great place to stay.

Ok let me start by telling you im a bit of a Marriott fan. Really their beds are so so comfortable but a collegue of mine told me to try Omni saying that it was great and close to the convention center. I am so so happy I took her advice. A couple of the lectures were in the Marriott and let me tell you there were tons of people pouring in and out of that hotel. There was a wedding and a ball of some sort and everyone was tripping over themselves. The Omni hotel was right on the Gas Light district across the street from the convention center. When you arrive at the Omni you walk up to a wonderfully kind gentleman who kindly greets and guides you to the front desk. Several people wait to assist you. The hotel is very stylish and elegant. I had asked for a ocean view room. For a couple of dollars more I was granted a room overlooking the coronado bridge. I got to the hotel at 9am in the morning and they allowed me to check in. They have valet but im cheap and I parked right across the street and walked the 25 feet to the hotel. The room was large and the bed very very comfortable (as good as Marriotts :) ). They have a very nice pool and fitness center that are very clean. I love that I listened to my friend and was able to experience a different type of hotel that fit my need for quiet clean elegance.

Room Tip: Just ask for what you like. The worst they can do is say no or charge a touch more-- remember nothi...

In San Diego for business and then staying over few extra days. Fabulous location; staff superb; conference was great. Room very comfortable and fantastic few of the bay from the room. The last night had unfortunate situation with a big party and loud patrons on our floor. The security staff did as best as possible. Upon leaving, unfortunately the staff member was not very responsive or understanding. Needless to say, "last impressions are lasting impressions." I responded to survey of our staff and within hours the manager of the Omni contacted us. 180 degree refersal, very sympathetic, listened and apologized. Her demeanor saved us a patron. Other than the last, desk staff member, the entire staff of Omni for 5 full days was attentive, engaging and superb. Funny how one can ruin it for the all. But one...the manager...saved it for the all. I wanted to write and let you know we had an unfortunate finale to our mini vacation, but they saved it in how they listened. I will stay there again next time in San Diego. Great staff, location and accommodations.

Room Tip: Facing the bay if possible

Stayed at this hotel for a convention, it was very close to the convention center, just across the street. The best feature of this hotel is the staff, who were all friendly and helpful. Special mention to Jessie the doorman who went out of his way to help me one morning. You could tell morale and enthusiasm were high - there was a pumpkin carving contest planned by the staff and Halloween decorations were already up (and quite good - I particularly liked the eyeballs scattered around the tables, and the hand coming out of the ground.)

The room and public spaces were clean and neat. Maid service did a good job and my bed was always turned down in the evening. There are plenty of hangers and there is a safe in the closet. The bedside clock radio is the first I've seen with very clear and simple instructions on the front as to how to set the alarm. Everything in the room functioned well including flat screen TV, lights, thermostat and complimentary wi-fi (get it as a Select Guest member - it is free to sign up.) The bathroom had the basic soap/shampoo/conditioner, sewing kit, q-tips, as well as plenty of towels and hair dryer. Water pressure and temperature was fine. The view was great - it was a corner room overlooking the bay with Coronado Bridge and Island in the background (foreground was the Hilton Bay Hotel and convention center.) USA Today newspaper was delivered to my room during the week but not on the weekend - unsure if there was an oversight or not. The only thing I would do differently in the room is to have a lighted magnifying mirror in the bathroom and also have more hooks or bars to hang towels - strangely the bathroom only had one small hook next to the tub, far from the sink. Also, outside noise (nearby trains) made the room less than excellent; better soundproofing would be helpful the next time they renovate (the hotel is about 10 years old, was renovated a couple of years ago.) I recommend light sleepers bring foam earplugs (worked well for me.)

The 24 hour gym on the 6th floor was well equipped with 5 treadmills, 2 recumbent bikes, 1 upright bike and a few ellipticals as well as the usual weights. Free earphones, fruit and water as well as plenty of towels were available. The bikes did not have attached TVs (instead they faced a wall mounted TV) but the treadmills did. I cannot comment on the pool as I did not use it.

As a Select Guest member I liked getting the complimentary AM beverage; what was great (more convenient for me) is that I had the option of getting it myself from Morton's (their sundries and coffee store in the lobby downstairs) rather than ordering it to be delivered to my room.

Check out was very fast and my bill was accurate. Overall excellent; I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Light sleepers may want to ask for a room not facing the trains/convention center. But in that case...

Have stayed at the Omni serveral times and the thing that i always look for is the quality of the house keeping..... that attention to detail. How well do they really clean the rooms prior to the next guest showing up. (yes i may have some OCD when it comes to this ) But i want things clean, not just "touched up". From the bed, linen, towels, bathroom , all was cleaned to my satisfaction. No dust on the cabinets or night stands etc.... They take pride in ensuring everything is done right . The carpets were fresh and had just been cleaned and even the outside balcony had been cleaned off . The bathrobes that were made available were super fresh and clean as well. The hotel overall is a quiet urban escape with beautiful views. The food in the restaurant , all though expensive is truly delicious , and so are the vodka martinis. Couple of nights here with room service etc.. will cost you but you will leave feeling refreshed and calm. (as i was after a long week at work). Wonderful escape with lots of places to walk to just across the street. 5 Stars for me because of the attention to detail.

Room Tip: some of the rooms offer larger balconies, those are the corner rooms. if you would like to be able...
