“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

Stayed at the Omni at end of August. Super hotel and very friendly staff, especially in the restaurant. Our room looked out towards the Convention Centre, super view. If we get the chance to visit San Diego again we will definitely stay at the Omni.

I have stayed here on multiple occasions and never been dissapointed. The people are friendly. It is very close to the convention center, next door to Petco ball park, and just a block from the gaslight district, so close to lots of great dining and bars. The trolley stops just a block away, and the waterfront park is just a short stroll away. For those that don't mind the walk, the Midway carrier and boat tours are a very nice 1 mile walk down the waterfront.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with a night in San Diego. We had purchased a night at the Omni San Diego at a Fundraiser. From the moment of booking the customer services was great.

Our room was not quite ready upon arrival, which was 12noon and check in was at 3pm, and we didn't expect it to be. However we were offered the opportunity to store bags and immediate use of the pool and facilities. The front desk person asked for our cell phone number to call when our room was available.

The pool area was lovely. On the 6th floor it offered views of the convention center and bay. However it was an exceptionally hot day for San Diego (101 on the patio), so we chose to have lunch at McCormick's and Schmidts, located in the hotel. Again, excellent service, wonderful bloody Mary's and a great lunch of assorted seafood dishes. I personally loved the crab stack.

Before lunch arrived to our table, the front desk called and had a room ready for us. the room was facing the city and a good size. The only thing I found odd was the bathroom seem so much larger in porportion the sleeping area, but it was very nice and clean. The amenities were very nice and all of the soft goods were in excellent shape.

We had a great time walking around downtown during the day and at night. The hotel is the perfect location for attending a convention, baseball game or concert on the embaradero. If you don't mind walking, you will never need a taxi.

Thank you Omni San Diego Hotel!

Room Tip: For a better view I would ask for a high floor facing the convention center

Stayed here for 5 nights and then went on to Las Vegas for 5 nights.
The Omni Hotel is wonderful, its clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
There is everything you need in your room, nothing is forgotten.
Its lovely to eat there and just pass the time. You can book trips to the famous zoo or other sight seeing tours by going to the conceirges desk at the far end of the reception.
Taxi's are just outside the door to take you anywhere you want to go.
The Gaslamp district is right on the doorstep, plenty of places to eat and drink and have a good time.
The trains run just around the corner from the hotel so this place is very convenient for everything.
I cannot fault it whatsoever.

Not knowing San Diego, when we booked this hotel I thought that it was a bit out of the way. I couldn't have been more wrong! It was an excellent location, and we walked to shopping and restaurants every day. If you are catching a game at Petco, there is a walking bridge to the park as it is literally across the street.

Now...for the rooms. We were on the har our view side, and it was quite loud with the train station all night. At one point I thought that the window was open. Although it was loud, at the same time I would expect most down town hotels would be...city and all.

We found the beds to be comfortable and very nice cozy bedding, but I'm sure they were doubles, not queens that I would have thought.

Cleanliness was excellent, and the staff was excellent. The pool area was also very very nice, one of the nicer ones that our family enjoyed in California during our two week trip.
