Stayed one night only, but was very happy with the hotel. Very convenient location for Old Town San Diego and friendly service. Have a covered parking garage, which we liked. Other than that is has all you expect from a HI Express and is very clean.

“Nice Old Town Option”

Holiday Inn Express Old Town

My wife and I stayed here after a 4 day convention in the city. We had stayed in Old Town before at the Courtyard Marriott but it was booked. After looking at most of the other hotels in Old Town we settled on this Holiday Inn Express. We stayed in a king room with a balcony over the courtyard. Overall the room was nice and most important clean. When we checked in we asked about parking which is supposed to cost $12 or $15 per night. They quickly dropped the charge even after we committed to stay. Continental breakfast is included. The location is great for exploring Old Town and convenient to Sea World and the Zoo. Overall this was a nice hotel and we would stay here again.

This is a well maintained hotel, with good staff, and spacious rooms. the location is top notch, there's plenty of street parking if you don't want to pay the $10 or so to park in the garage. The layout of the hotel is charming, they've made an effort to blend into the character of the neighborhood. Old Town is convenient to everything else in the area.

The only drawbacks: The charming villa/mission style of the grouns mean that you can't park close to your room. If your suitcase has wheels, problem solved. Also, show up early for breakfast. Seating is limited, and the food gets picked over pretty quickly.

“Best Kept Secret of San Diego!”

Holiday Inn Express Old Town

This little 127 room hotel was absolutely the best part of our vacation. It is located at the very entrance to Old Town which provided for good on-foot sight seeing. It is close to the Trolley boarding site, has bountiful restaurants ( although mostly Mexican crusine) and was beautifully decorated. It had a great hot tub, pool, wonderful continental breakfast, refrigerators and microwaves in the room. The staff was superb, It was well worth the $151 a night. There is a fee for underground parking at $12 a day. At first we thought that was out of line, but, as we found this hotel to be at the center of all we wanted to do, we discovered $12 a day was a minimal fee for the convienence of not fighting for parking spaces, frustration at not knowing where to drive, park and go. We simply left the car in a gated underground parking and did almost all of our vacation with connections( bus tours, Trolley, food and shopping) found in Old Town. This is by far, the best kept secret of Old Town. I will plan our next vacation at this spot next year!!!!

“Nice experience”

Holiday Inn Express Old Town

As previously stated the location of Holiday Inn Express is perfect as it is within walking distance to Old Town, the Trolly and near major Freeways. It is close to the airport, downtown, Gaslamp District and a short drive to the beaches and to La Jolla. We have stayed at this hotel several times and have found it to meet all of our needs---location, cleaniness, nice decor, friendly staff. The staff has always been extremely friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean. The new bedding is a nice touch, especially the extra pillows. The hotel is located in Old Town, so it is not a newly built hotel but keeps with the charming Mission style of the area. The hotel has been kept modern and updates are present in the rooms. It is a smaller European style hotel not a mega hotel so if that is what you want in a hotel then this hotel is not for you. If you want comfort and a clean, safe inviting feel then this is the hotel for you. The hotel staff was helpful in obtaining a rental car, at the least expensive rates. We parked on the street and it was fine thus avoiding the parking garage cost, however, in the the past we parked in the garage as it was free. The reception staff was extremely helpful and offered useful information and advise. They seem to care about their guests. The pool and hot tub area was clean. The breakfast is very nice and offers several selections. It is not the newest hotel, but I do not have any complaints, therefore, I plan to return again to stay at this charming hotel.
