“Great Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2011

We spent a few hours in this area and loved it. The best part of the park was the hike along the shore by the tidal pools. Just a beautiful area. Great views of the ocean the pacific crashing into the cliffs. Really gives you a sense of the natural beauty of the area. We visited at high tide so we didn't see the tidal pools.

On top of Point Loma, near the visitor center and light house, offers amazing views of San Diego, Coronado Island, and the ocean. Interesting history of the lighthouse and early explorers of the area if you into that sort of thing.

“Different from the average lighthouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2010

As you can tell from the pictures, it isn't your typical tall lighthouse. It is, however, a nice tour and shows you the lving quarters of the lighthouse keeper and family.

“Nice hike and scenery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2010

Had a couple hours to see some sites and decided to try this out along with the national park. Really enjoyed the walk/hike between exhibits and the tidal pools. At the tip of the San Diego bay and about 400 feet up, the scenery was excellent... Pacific on one side of the point and San Diego on the other. Wouldn't recommend if you don't want to walk though.

“Well worth the trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2009

I have travelled to San Diego many times for work. In all of those trips, I had never taken the time to drive out to Point Loma, which sits at the entrance to the San Diego harbor. Seeing it from the city, the point does not look like much more than a hill. Recently, however, I had a free afternoon and took the time to make the trek to the end of the point. The view is absolutely amazing! It reminded me of the view from Golden Gate Park looking back at the city of San Francisco. The entire city of San Diego is laid out before you in an amazing panorama. The Point is a National Monument, and has hiking trails on both the ocean and city sides of the Point. Go toward sunset and you won't be disappointed.

“A World Away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2009

Old Point Loma Lighthouse is only a few hundred yards from the Cabrillo National Monument - the visitor center and statue - yet is situated at such a place, and at a higher elevation, that you may look one way and see the endless throb of the Pacific and look the other way and see San Diego and beyond. It is really impressive at sundown.
