In 2012, Prepkitchen Little Italy was voted "Best New Restaurant" twice by San Diego Home & Garden and San Diego Citybeat readers. It was recently awarded the Critic's Choice award for "Best of the Best, Casual Restaurant" by San Diego Magazine in the Best Restaurants 2013 issue.Meet the Business Owner: Arturo K.Whisknladle Hospitality started simply with the serendipitous meeting of one talented chef [Ryan Johnston] and one young entrepreneur [Arturo Kassel] in 2006. Convinced that what San Diego needed was a farm-fresh restaurant that served from-scratch cooking, the pair opened Whisknladle in the heart of La Jolla in 2008. This back-to-basics approach to cooking - or gourmet comfort food - has firmly planted Whisknladle in the hearts of locals and tourists alike.A La Jolla institution with a national following, Whisknladle expanded its concept into another style of restaurants - Prepkitchen. A restaurant designed for cooks by cooks, Prepkitchen focuses on delivering the same farm-fresh and seasonal cuisine at an everyday-eats price. Since opening the first Prepkitchen in La Jolla, the concept has exploded. In 2010, Whisknladle Hospitality opened Prepkitchen Del Mar and then Prepkitchen Little Italy in 2012.Prepkitchen Little Italy Also RecommendsPrepkitchen Del Mar1201 Camino Del MarDel Mar, CA 92014Category: American (New)"Located in downtown Del Mar, Prepkitchen serves artisanal, farm-to-table style cuisine in a beautiful coastal, neighborhood environment."

“Located in Little Italy, but lots offered for those who don't want Italian food.”

Great food. Really an excellent place for sharing lots of small courses. The decor is eclectic. Industrial yet nature inspired. Staff was very attentive. A great place!

“Fresh food well prepared”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

This was my second visit to Prepkitchen. This restaurant never disappoints. Each ingredient is excellent and the ingredients come together to make the most wonderful, well prepared dishes. The staff is well trained and the restaurant itself is well designed. Look for the plates on the wall on the way to the restrooms. What a treat! When my foodie friends come into town, this is where I will bring them.

“Part of a large group, but still very well done.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

It's hard for a restaurant to handle large groups sometimes, but they did an excellent job. Great service, delicious food, and attentive bar tenders.

“Handmade chocolates for Taste of Little Italy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013 via mobile

This was our 10th stop on Taste of Little Italy. Loved the handmade chocolate that was served outside of the very small entrance to the Prepkitchen .

Prepkitchen served us hand rolled chocolates that had pieces of biscotti, pistachio, fennel & orange in it. I believe it was dark chocolate, too. Very nice quality of ingredients & taste.

Now that I know where it is, i'll be coming back! (next to a store under construction, which also makes this narrow fronted restaurant difficult to see)
